I always thought— ‘Once things are a little better, I’ll go back. Leaving the house early to hunt in the mountain, coming home in the evenings to the simple, nostalgic meal prepared by my mother. I would still be my parent’s son, I would still be Wanyu’s big brother.’ Only, walking down this path, when I finally thought to glance back, I suddenly realized: without me noticing, the way back had long been sealed off.




You are a pristine lotus floating
With petals lost to gentle summer wind
With no regard for sunburnt shadows
The violent gales carry within

You are a pristine lotus floating
In the well of a narrow minded frog
Who sees only sun and blue skies
And never the brewing storm above

Darkness, corruption, demon path
I fear no vengeance, I fear no wrath
Corpses, talismans, deadly tools
I found my calling, yet you called me a fool

Did you lose your mind? What can you not see –
The world we live in will not bow to the weak
You seem to see yourself noble, swathed in white
And I tainted from the inside and black as ink

But like the moon that changes
The sky above does not stay blue
And when I dyed my heart in darkness
Perhaps my calling somehow reached you

You stopped announcing the rules of justice
Stopped dividing the world in black and white
You peered into my darkness
And for the first time, found your sight

You were a pristine lotus floating
Down the river to the sea
But as ink spreads through water
Perhaps you finally understand me
