Familiar: Four-Eyed Phylactery

Name: Mitten

History: Given to Feronia by her sponsor, Mitten was the first thing that was ever exclusively hers. Over the years, Feronia's primal magic brought the plush to life and the two are inseparable.

"There is cruelty in this world.
I think I much prefer kindness."

PERSONALITY

Feronia's first home was not a kind one. Taken in as an orphan by the group calling themselves Outfit Vector, she has more memories of fear than of comfort from her early years - and she does remember. Feronia's memory is pristine - unusual for a Tundra - and she remembers her early years with a crystal clarity.

Her first memories of even fleeting kindness are her sponsorship by a natureborn dragon - she never learned their name. Her first memories of comfort are from Phoebe and Silvanus and it is with them she found her home.

Feronia has seen a great deal of cruelty in her life. In her quiet, clear way, she has decided that she much prefers kindness.

ABOUT

A choice taken...

Feronia was an orphan. She never had a chance to know her parents; found as a child she was collected by strange dragons to be trained, her strength and ability to survive on her own seeming, to them, to be indicators she was suited for a great future - whether she particularly wanted it or not.

She was eventually given a chance at - well. She's not sure how to think of it now.

She was given freedom from the training. She was coached in her magic, the wild primal stuff evidenced by her eyes and easy for her to pour from her fingers and without much warning she was sent on, to a clan that her mentor and those her mentor had given her freedom from wanted to please, just this once.

It was not a choice that she was given. But it is something she is glad that happened anyway.

She was scared for some time, when she arrived at the Clan of Tethys. Even in the comforting, kind and loving care of Phoebe and Silvanus was something she was hesitant to trust in - but it never went away. Even when she curled in on herself and would not talk they gave her food and comfort. When she kept to herself they sought to find her a friend. Though they gave her new toys, they never took away the cuddly mirror she'd been given by her first mentor.

She found happiness there, with them, and while she remembers the terrors of her childhood with pristine clarity, she remembers the happiness she found in her new home just as well, just as clearly.

Feronia has a home now, and a family and work she loves, and she is happy.

An unexpected reunion...

It's a beautiful day when the visitors come, and Feronia is busy in the gardens - but then, she's always busy in the gardens. The visitors are for Likhoradka - another of the founding Reapers, coming to discuss some dispute going on in a minor Cell and she can see them over the rows of grasses and shrubs.

She can also see a small child - the Pathogenecute, Spud, she recalls - stumbling his way towards her gardens.

"Oh no you don't," she murmurs, jogging over to scoop him up. "Hello there. Are you curious?"

"Pretty!"

"They are that," she agrees. "These are marigolds. They're good eating for dragons like you or me."

Out of the corner of her eye she spots one of the Reaper's - Primarch, that's the name - entourage heading over. Tall and two-headed - the aberration. The only one she's ever met has been Elaphomyces who is... well. A very particular individual, to put it mildly. This one seems steady, patiently picking their way through the rows of bushes and blossoms.

"Have we met?" Feronia asks, as they near, her voice quiet and gentle. She moves Spud's hands away from tugging her ribbons.

"Not exactly," the strange dragon replies. "It was years ago. Liana Forestkeeper sponsored your freedom from the training - your eyes."

Feronia nods slowly.

"Your eyes," she says. "Were you sponsored too?"

One of the heads laughs. The other looks sad.

"Not exactly," they say. "Not for years." One head nods towards Primarch. "I'd not still be free but for his sponsorship. But I got myself away under my own power."

Feronia takes a moment to juggle Spud into a comfortable hold, cradling the perpetual child carefully.

Then she hugs her long-lost sister with all the strength her gardening-trained limbs can bring to bear.

RELATIONSHIPS
18490577p.png Phoebe | Beloved Mother

Feronia was a terrified, shaken hatchling when the clan took her in, and found the most comfort amongst Phoebe's plants. After Phoebe and Silvanus took her in, it's probably unsurprisng that she considers them her parents.

57020782p.png Xylon | Beloved Mate

Hatched with similarly primal eyes to her own, Xylon was given a home with the clan partially in the hope he might be a suitable playmate for the still-shy Feronia. The two took time to bond but ended up finding partnership together, loving one another dearly.

18491370p.png Alectrona | Dear Auntie

Phoebe rarely left when Feronia was young, hesitant to leave her new daughter alone when still so uncertain of her situation. But, when she did, it was in Silvanus or Alectrona's care she was left. To this day, Feronia loves her doting aunt.

58148376p.png Hurriya | Dear Foster-Sister

Feronia had never really met Hurriya before their reunion - but it was a reunion. After all, they came from the same place, and prefer the freedom they now have to the training and lack of choice they had before. In that, they are sisters.

Limnas & Adeios | Beloved Sons

Feronia and Xylon have taken in two young dragons, and they consider them their sons. Limnas, quiet and shy, is a key researcher in the Gardens, while Adeios, less shy but still quiet, takes after Xylon with a love of tea and a wry wit.
