Family History

Enceladus | Great Grandfather
Enceladus has an extremely strong gift for visions, which has caused him severe memory problems. Enceladus wandered out of his cavern one day and ran into Cove. Her thrall actually improved his mental condition somewhat; he returned the next day and remembered her when they spoke. His visions intrigued her so she stayed for a short time to indulge her curiosity. Cove took two hatchlings when she left, though she did not keep them with her for long. Enceladus' memory of the encounter faded without Cove's physical presence to help maintain it.

Cove | Great Grandmother
Siren/Mermaid. Cove can cast strong mental suggestions on the unwary, and disguise herself as a regular dragon. She will often cause sailors to run their ships aground and then turn against each other, finishing each other off before she moves in to plunder what remains.

Fade | Grandfather
Son of Enceladus and Cove. He inherited much from Cove: a gift for illusion, disdain for those around him, and an unnatural attractiveness. He used every bit of it to get his way with the dragons around him. The visions he inherited from his father were nearly as hard on him as they were on Enceladus, leaving him crippled and vulnerable when they struck. He moved from clan to clan, sleeping around and charming the clans-people out of their belongings, sometimes being driven out when they finally became fed up with him, sometimes moving on out of boredom. He died young, at the hands of a roaming beast clan.

Blanche | Mother
Her mother was a member of one of the clans Fade visited. The siren blood she inherited from Fade harmed her, causing an immune response and making her body attack itself. She was constantly sick, fighting off one infection or another. She otherwise inherited none of the "advantages" of siren magic.

Vayle | Father
Vayle is a tailor with a keen eye for fashion. He's drama prone and takes great care with his appearance. He loves hatchlings; he's quite happy to help create them with anyone who asks, though they usually wind up leaving with the other parent. When it became clear that the two hatchlings he had with Blanche were too sickly to travel immediately, Blanche wound up raising them there at the inn with the help of Vayle, Oblation, and Caladrius.

Coil
His own body has been against him from the start. He aches constantly and is plagued by fatigue. His response to this was to grow angry and self destructive. In blood magic, he found a means to exert some control over his body, turning the thing that hurts him towards useful pursuits. He uses his own blood as a means of targeting the blood of his enemies with malevolent spells, or siphoning spilled blood to rejuvenate himself and his allies. He joined Malokingi's mercenary troop, as his skills are good for little but fighting, and the troop was a regular presence at the inn where he was raised.

Splendor | Coil's partner
She bosses him around and he loves her for it. 'Fun' is a concept he finds far more agreeable when she's involved, though lack of practice makes him awkward.
