Macantha

Least Concern The Blue Angelfish is found in the Indo-Pacific region, from the southern Red Sea coast of Sudan south as far as South Africa, and east across the Indian and Pacific Oceans to Fiji, Tonga and Samoa. It occurs as far north as southern Japan and south to Australia. More recently, it has been seen sporadically off the east coast of Florida and Hawaii. This fish is found at depths between 3 and 31 feet on sheltered coral reefs, where it feeds on algae, tunicates and sponges. The adults have also been recorded in shipwrecks.

Fun Fact: Adults and juveniles of this species are quite phenotypically different from one another. Adults are brownish green, with scales edged in blue, and yellow fins with blue margins. Juveniles, however, are blue-black, and marked from top to bottom with narrow white stripes.


Macantha is a happy-go-lucky little lady with a big heart and a love for the water.
