Languishing Lady

"After a hundred years the son of the King then reigning, who was of another family from that of the sleeping Princess, was a-hunting on that side of the country, and he asked what those towers were which he saw in the middle of a great thick wood..."

The only thing Velvet feels she lacks is a crown. In all other ways, she has formed herself into the perfect fairytale princess. Manners, dress, interests in sewing and music… all of these things are part of her repertoire. She must absolutely be ready at all times. You see, someday her prince will come.

Velvet gets lost in daydreams all the time about her 'one true love' coming and finding her. The little dragon imagines various scenarios from the typical “locked in a tower” to the unfortunate “sleeping in a glass coffin” rescue.

To be sure she won’t drive off her prince once he arrives, Velvet spends all of her time practicing her courtly manners, her speeches to her 'rescuer' and casting the others in the lair in various parts of her fantasies. Over and over again, she envisions all possible iterations so that every detail will be perfect.

Occasionally, trouble will be stirred up with some of her more wild scenarios (hatchlings especially are terrible about over-acting and setting things on fire when they’re pretending to be the evil dragon), but for the most part Velvet is just harmlessly lost in her own world. Luckily for her, Chaotic Daydreams is just the place to be for an imagination like hers.

If Velvet could only come out of her dream world long enough, she would see who her rescuer really is. Jade seems to be the flip side of Velvet's coin, and the two dragons need to be together. Velvet knows this inside, but has yet to fight free of her own little world to acknowledge it in this one.
