Biography
Uh-oh, looks like this zappy Mirror hybrid wandered a little too far from her home lair (408615, BlazingSkyDragon), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the urge to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. |
Growing up as the daughter of the founders of the Sanctuary, Larkspur had a lot to live up to... and it was a lot of pressure. But Lark had always been interested in medicine and healing, inherited from admiring her father's work. However, she had never been able to safely practice such responsibilities due to her magical capabilities: she'd inherited her mother's destructive lightning magic. But unlike Ruin, Lark could not control them. And she hated them. She hated these powers that kept her from doing the things she loved (it didn't help that her brother was happily able to pursue his interests without fear of accidentally electrocuting others). Lark finally made a decision: she'd explore the world, in the hopes that she'd find a way to control her wild electric abilities or suppress them completely. She wished her family goodbye, and left the Sanctuary, uncertain of when she would return... |
Lark traveled north from her home into the land of Light, where she was made welcome at The Sunbeam Lanternhouse. But she came to them at the opening of the Thundercrack Carnivale, and she was terrified that her magical abilities would be even more out-of-control than usual: she locked herself in a room for the duration of the festival.
At its conclusion, she ventured out with Kukulcan's encouragement. He suggested that she talk to Burak, but Lark found him too intimidating.
She wandered away from the inn and stumbled across the artists' compound, where she met Aya. The overly-excitable Spiral didn't seem at all concerned about the possibility of being electrocuted and insisted that Lark join her in splatter painting. Despite her anxiety, Lark couldn't say no... and found herself having fun.
The crackling energy that seemed ever-present in her veins faded from her awareness. Lark didn't realize how relaxed she'd become until she finished her painting... and a spark jumped from her claws to Aya's. All her terror came rushing back, but Aya wasn't hurt.
Still, Lark decided it was time to move on.
Far south on the frozen island known as the fortress of ends, Lark stayed with a clan that called itself the frozen stronghold. Much to her surprise there some here like her in a way. Lightning primals they were called. Several of the males caught her eye but unfortunately the Gaoler she fancied was of an ancient breed. The other two males were of an ancient breed also. Just her luck some one like her but still worlds apart.
The night before she left she stayed in the Gaoler’s den. Snuggled in his warm fur, but together was something they could never be.
A pass through the Shifting Expanse had her returning to the Sanctuary for a spell. Not for very long, mind you, but she did miss home.
She caught up with her brother--who had immediately hugged her on sight--and told him about some of the places she'd been and the dragons she'd seen. He seemed a little sad when Lark mentioned she'd be heading out again in a week or so.
Jitters, whether from electricity or anxiety she wasn't completely sure, had her keeping to herself for much of the latter half of her time there. The energies of the Lightning domain had only strengthened the power coursing through her veins. She had to leave again.
She hugged Rho before she left. He didn't comment on how it felt like she was holding on for dear life. She struggled not to collapse in the comfort of physical contact. If she hadn't gone then, she might've stayed just to get more hugs like that.
