__The cursed,
The one who saved us.

______A fire egg washed on the shore, it's deep orange veins turned charcoal by the waves. It hatched into a sickly child whose malformed semitransparent wings would never fly. It struggled to even form a pearl. There was debate, but the females didn't want it killed and so it was. One more mouth to feed.
______Too fragile to be exposed to the sun and the salty sea breeze, Erelah spent her childhood locked up in the dark. Delirious from the loneliness, she started seeing shapes in the smoke and in the dark, glimpses of the future. She predicted Laurel would never come back before she even left.
______Laurel's death was followed by a poor fishing season. The young witch was accused of bringing ruin upon the village. We knew it was a bad idea it leave her alive! But in a strange twist of fate, Erelah would also be the one to save the little town. As the villagers shunned her, she started telling their fortunes to travellers. For food, at first, for treasure, later. Her predictions always turned out exact, and the word soon spread. There was an Oracle in the Ashfall Wastes, and boy, was she good.

______That was years ago now.
