He lives in the very upper portion of the great black flying ship that the clan calls home--ordinarily far away from the others. But it's better this way. He was a nothing, nameless, an it, hailing from nowhere, sworn to nobody, until he found this...family and asked to be a part of it. Perhaps the first clan leaders were a little too startled by any dragon, let alone an Imperial, making his way to the very heart of their territory undiscovered by any guard to tell him no. But he has proven himself worthy. He has perched atop their great ship and watched, the dome over his little domain made of nothing but clearest and toughest glass (courtesy of their forgemaster) to allow him a complete view of the lands around him all the way to the borders on the horizon. The distance is large, but his eyes are sharp, perhaps sharper than any other's that he has known or heard of...and he has plenty of time to see in more than just the physical sense as well. Even the sharpest physical senses pale before the other that he has. The other that is never to be spoken of, lest it abandon him once more...for good. But very few speak to him or of him, and he is content. They give him food, water, even finery to wear and long, curling marks to adorn his lovely hide. And a name that he chose for himself--Nimbus. The very name of the clouds that floated silently overhead and watched all below them...how fitting. For he is the great watcher, and none ever pass by him unnoticed.  None quite know what the strange crest he carries means...but they're not entirely sure they want to find out. |
