Biography
A mage specialised in lifting curses. Sells his services to would-be tomb raiders for a cut of their profits. Has been in the business for years and has become very good at it, but views it as his job and nothing more.
Sykes is hardly ever impressed anymore. He has entire flowcharts in his mind on what to do in each situation and sticks to his tried and true methods. He shares none of the sense of adventure of his clients, who are often befuddled by his attitude and lack of fear.
Over the years he's acquired a lot of curse related afflictions. Sykes has to deck himself out in protective amulets and other magical items to counter the effects. Tattooed runes and symbols cover most of his arms, legs and tail for this reason.
Sykes has recently been hired by Damas to help him on his expeditions. This has brought him into contact with Cornix, a tomb raider he used to be vaguely acquainted with but never accompanied on a mission. Cornix has been bugging him ever since as they're desperate to find a cure for their own perceived curse. Sykes hasn't been able to find anything wrong with them but does find their terrible luck noticeable. He wonders if there's some kind of magic he's unfamiliar with afflicting them and has promised to look into it. He's fairly sure it's just coincidence and conformation bias on Cornix' part, though.
