We deserve more than We give ourselves She is a dragoness of death, not of the dead. When a dragon chooses to die, they need another dragon to pull their soul from their body. This prevents horrors such as the multi-headed thing in the light domain. Souls are slippery, smooth wisps. They shift and melt as they into whatever choose, but that is the nature of dragons and Xao understands. Even if death, dragons must be bound to something to stop them from roaming and becoming lost. Most choose something they love, such as the beach where they met their first love, or their desk where they created great works. She does her best to fulfill the requests of the past one. Still, the company of souls and of the soon-to-be parted leaves a stain on the dragon. Her claws have touched death for too long. Little sprouts, little souls, seem so weak and loose. If she brushes against the tender leaves, will a life leave with her? Dragons, so young that their souls have yet to dim, blind her when she is in their presence. Her thoughts betray her, wishing for a bit of their light for herself. Most of all, she hates her thoughts. Her mind betrays her. Makes her wonder how long each dragon has before they become souls she leads to their rest. Before she can think to not, she knows how long. How could she approach one such as Orilla, who live comes to. Under her care, sprouts glow with life. Their souls rise to meet her shining soul. She does not take but gives. With each smile and kind world, she leaves the world with brighter souls. Her son, little, brave Tora, has one of the brightest souls she has seen. Even after he leaves the Dragon's rest, the place is left brighter. When they are together, they glow. They become a beacon for Xao and she could not resist becoming enveloped by their warmth. Xao could not change how she is, yet Orilla has taught her how to think better. Even when a sprout weathered in her claws, she was soothed. You forgot your gloves, my love. After one day when she recoiled from Tora who leaped at her to show a carving, she was still embraced after by them. It's okay, my love. Breathe. When she sat with them, resting between the two brightest souls she knew and watching their light, her thoughts were gently moved. Not yet, my love. Let's rest here for a while. | ___ |
