Biography
Orion was born on the sandy shores of the Glasswatcher Sea, Azmarin's equivalent to the Sea of a Thousand Currents, under the twinkling stars up above. Throughout his childhood, he had found a keen interest in the night sky, taking every chance he could get to take a look at the stars.
Upon growing up, he became an astronomer. He studied the stars each and every night, happily jotting down anything he could about them, from any new constellations he could find to any odd-looking stars.
One fateful night, though, he was sitting serenely by the sea, looking up at the stars for what could have been the millionth time, but he still felt like he was seeing them for the first time. What he didn't realize, however, was that would be the last time he'd see them, at least from the Glasswatcher Sea.
A huge wave crashed over Orion, sweeping him into the unforgiving waters below. Despite living next to a huge ocean, he had never learnt how to swim. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't get back to the surface and, in the end, he succumbed to the murky oceanic depths.
However, he was given a second chance at life. He was offered the chance to become one of the Foreign. He ended up taking on the role of the Star, a befitting title based on his former hobbies. His realm was reminiscent of the shores he used to live on, though it was now dotted with bioluminescent algae and was permanently night time.
Poem by SilverSilver
A shore of glass,
A heart full of stars;
Eyes always upwards,
Bereft of alarm.
Breathe in the stardust,
Exhale the sea,
A life bound to study
Waiting for thee.
Regard not the loved ones,
The hearth or the home,
The sky so clear, unbroken thine,
How could you be alone?
Drink now deep of the well, for
Pure knowledge is steeped there;
It runs so cool down to your throat
Without pause nor a care.
Yet too long you stared upwards
To a sky adrift in dream;
The sea rose up in jealousy
And took you far downstream
To the depths where your heart yearned for the light,
Yet then, alas, you passed that night -
And rose again, a foreign god,
To dream of the universe in your palm.
