She's always lived in the slums, since her mother was a prostitute and she never knew her father. She lived in the red-light district of her port city in the country of Lakkuro. Although she took in an interest in dancing when she saw a group of traveling dancers in fancy silks and jewelry stop by her lowly town. Her mother encouraged her to pursue dancing with all her kind and quiet might, trying to make more money so Gaorain could take dance lessons, although Gaorain practiced copying professional dancers on her own time.

As soon as her mother gave her the money for dance lessons, she found the best dancer she knew of and asked them to teach her, presenting them with the money her mother had saved for her. Her teacher, a woman named Hevlana, taught Gaorain all she knew, as well as helping her develop her own kind of dancing, a type that suited her.

After a couple years of lessons, at the age of 13, Gaorain began doing small shows of her dancing on street corners, dressing herself in drape-like clothing and fluidly dancing around in a small circle. She generated small tips from these shows, and always brought the money back to her mother with a proud smile.

Sadly, her mother developed a life-threatening sickness when Gaorain turned 15, causing her mother to lose her life, leaving Gaorain all on her own. Although she mourned her mother's death greatly, she still sought to dance, so she continued her street performances, slowly getting more and more money from her intricate dancing.

One day, another traveling dance troupe stopped by her small town, when she was 16. They saw her dancing on one of the slum's corners and immediately asked her to join the traveling troupe, which was a fairly well-known and respected troupe that made hundreds through their dances, sometimes they even got to dance for royalty and nobility. So of course, Gaorain joined them.

Tagging along with the troupe was a mechanic. He worked on the troupe's traveling vehicle, which was also what they sometimes used in performances. He immediately fell in love with Gaorain as soon as he set his eyes on her, and asked for her hand after getting to know her for a few months. She was flattered, and accepted his offer.

Now she travels with her traveling troupe, dancing to her heart's content while covered in fancy silks and glittering jewels, along with her faithful mechanic.
