Lightweaver Marble Bust

"These tired eyes lie rest on the rubble of my kingdom... My head is filled with a ghostly whisper, a lament of what it used to be."

In the midst of the Shattered Plain, stood a small, wooden structure. It was but a shack, left by past travellers for their successors, serving as a makeshift refuge from the dustbowls that plagued the vast deserted lands. The inside was barren, stripped bare, except for a table made out of dried timber. Two dragons sat here- one a Wildclaw, the other a Guardian.
"Do you recall the kingdom that lay over on the moors, out yonder past the mountains?"The Guardian inquired, after a long silence. He was making empty, meaningless conversation with the stranger nomad, his best attempt to be friendly. It could be presumed that this was his first interaction with a fellow in many moons- these journeys across Dragonhome could seem never ending at times. He took a sip of the brew as he awaited a response.
"Ay. I was alive to see it. I was a young hatchling, my father took me through the pass all the way just so he could buy some herbs for one of his recipes. It was a gorgeous kingdom. Such a pity, it is now." The Wildclaw replied, his voice sounding a bit more chipper. He seemed genuinely invested in the topic, his eyes glazed as he recalled his memories of the kingdom.
"But, alas, that Queen Skadi..."
She is a part of many stories of the past. The tales all describe the same fate of the Kingdom of Gjǫfheimr, its fall to the hands of vanity and ego, the unprecedented amount of power in the hands of one ruler. It goes as a warning to all neighboring kingdoms.

྿ The Story of Gjǫfheimr

The eldest son of old King ____, Prince Markus, had just reached the age of twenty-six, a year held sacred based on the mythology of the Kingdom. The Prince was one of and three years eldest of the King's two children, his sibling being none other than Skadi herself. This year would mark the coronation of the new ruler of Gjǫfheimr, and Prince Markus was rightfully next in line for the throne.

And this infuriated Young Skadi. She had always felt that she was cast under the shadow of her older brother, all his achievements were marked with praise, while Skadi had to scrape by in order to get any attention from her parents. Because of this, at many points in her youth she had resorted to negative actions. She found that any form of attention, regardless of its nature, was precious to her and had to be obtained at all costs.

Often, the young princess had lost herself in a fantasy world where she was next in line for the throne; she dreamed of her plans for the kingdom- reshaping it back into its former glory and the conquest that she would lead upon the rivaling cities. Afterall, she had detested her father's style of merciful ruling, and it was what she blamed for the lack of loyalty that the subjects of the kingdom held for their own king. But she kept to herself, mostly. She was well reserved with her thoughts and ideas, mainly because she believed that only she had the power to restore the kingdom back into it's golden age many years prior. And Skadi knew, that because of this, she could not see the crown fall into the hands of her elder brother. To her, he possessed none of the qualities that her idea of a ruler should have.

But luckily for Skadi, her brother left for a short caravan journey with some of his closest confidants and never returned to Gjǫfheimr to claim the throne. It remains still disputed whether or not Skadi had something to do with his disappearance.
