Her children were steely, just like her. She didn’t feel strongly about it but it was a fact she knew. One of few. She was cursed with reservation and passed it down like illness; past their hatching she didn’t necessarily know her children on a personal level. And it was only easy to keep it that way—tense and almost professional. The four made it clear she ruled with an iron fist.

While West was willing to accept the viewpoint, she in no way ruled. None of the three companions did. So if they weren’t comfortable with her orders and delegations of work they could go cuddle right under the wing of the Sunfury, she’d said.

They stayed. Even when she didn’t expect them to.

Was there some hope they held, that she should hold in turn? She worried they were guarding the lair not under a sense of duty, but to achieve favor—and she did favor them, more than the other Wimur children, in fact.

Though she could definitely favor them more. Favor them as wonderful minds and hearts.
