Sunshine

Once his scales were as bright as the sun. They were extraordinary and gave others the false notion that he was too. They expected him to do great things. When the Banescales were freed from their prison, his brothers and sisters wanted him to lead them. Sunshine just couldn't. He didn't believe that the new dragons deserved to be attacked for things that happened long ago. No, he wanted to learn from them. They had new things that made Sornieth a better place. They had beast tamers, markets, and they lived in these massive or small groups known as clans. Sunshine believed they meant no harm.

When he was asked to join a clan, he graciously accepted. It wasn't at all what he expected. He thought that they were a battle group. That their focus was on fighting and hunting and being vicious. But, when he found that this clan was focused on markets and selling things, he couldn't have been more impressed. These dragons did crafts. They sold their extra prey and gathered plants. Sometimes they traded. He observed them and walked the stalls. Every kickback amazed him. The beast tamers had so many cute and playful creatures waiting to bond with dragons. This is what he wanted to do. He wanted to be a marketeer. After some learning and adjustments, he finally opened his own booth selling arts, crafts, and materials. When his booth finally got on its feet and started making profit, he set out to change himself.

He had heard that there are dragons who specialize in alchemy, and have perfected many concoctions that can alter a dragon's appearance. Sunshine had determined to get rid off his shiny scales. He worked with the alchemists. If they needed a certain ingredient, he retrieved it. Sometimes he forged. Other times he hunted. Sometimes he even bought things for them. All this in the hopes of changing his appearance into something that fit him better. When the day finally came to change his colors and genes, he was also given a choice. Should he keep his name, or, give himself a new one? Sunshine was the name he was born with and it was only because of his scales, but it was familiar. Sunshine kept his name as remembrance of his former self and accepted his new colors and genes. Finally, he was who he was meant to be.
