B I O G R A P H Y

Long shadows lure you in.

______ The first snowfall was a heavy, unrelenting one. Frost crept up the spindly trees of the forest as they creaked against the onslaught of the raging winds. There were no animals to be seen, for most were hibernating deep beneath the earth, ignorant to the forces of nature working above. Only the eerie hum of the wind could be heard.

A particularly strong gust of wind wafted against a strong tree that had been standing in the middle of a clearing. The wind knocked away the snow that had been gathering on the branches of it. There was a quiet rumble as the tree shook, and then cracks as it distorted into something else. A gleaming, red eye opened as a dragon took form, a female Imperial. She raised her head, studying the first snowfall. The rest of the snow covering her body was shaken off, revealing a partly skeletal body engulfed by wooden growths. There were patches of unmelting, brilliant ice covering her limbs.

______ Off in the distance, there was a village in the tundra. From it, the villagers could see the forest way off in the distance. Inside a house, warm and cozy, a few hatchlings sat around an elderly tundra, waiting for the blizzard to pass. The hatchlings excitedly asked the tundra to tell them a tale. She willed them to calm down, before she weaved before them the story of a once beautiful imperial that was now the monster that haunted the forest. How the betrayal of someone close to her warped her, consumed her whole until there was nothing but the blind desire for revenge. And for revenge being a dish best served cold, there was some sort of poetic justice to be seen that this Imperial revenant only awoke on winters.

The hatchlings laughed, for it was just a fairy tale... Right?
