The final guard before the Kings. Though his sight has been lost, it would be ill advised to underestimate Kyran's dedication: his blade is still as sharp and black as before. A flock of doves surround him, a white haze amongst his shadowed figure. I had been warned previously of such a creature, and treaded lightly across the final stretches of the Depths. It was a vast emptiness. Black sands stretched on endlessly, interrupted by nothing; the guard blended in completely, his silhouette completely hidden amongst the darkness. Only when the white sun began to drip beneath the horizon, did I make out the semblance of another soul. Though at first I heard the chirping of birds[...] With a flash of silver I saw the figure draw a sword, decorated with the finest black ornaments. |

Upon returning to the empty desert, I came across a little hut, and deduced it was where Kyran used to reside. There was not much of note inside - the tools of a swordsman, the elegant black jewellery, and a few white feathers scattered about. But amongst the miscellaneous items I discovered a few empty pots of ink and wilting dove feathers, as well as scraps of papyrus holding a written language I had never read before: it seems I have rid the world of a fellow poet... No matter. I recorded my findings and hoped to find a scholar for the ancient script, and exited the abandoned cabin. A dove perched on my shoulder. I ignored it.
