Biography
Sharess, the One Seeking Happiness
Uh-oh, looks like this lonely pearl wandered a little too far from her home lair (Yanisha, 211645), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the urge to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. If you don't want another traveler in return, she can also be dropped off at the rest hub, here.

Sadness. Of all the emotions Sharess experienced as a hatchling, sadness was what she remembered most. She was simply the result of a spur-of-the-moment coupling, not a faithful relationship: thus, her mother left to serve the Gladekeeper as soon as the nest was hatched, and her traveling father returned to his home clan. As soon as she was old enough, she left home in search of love. She decided to seek out her father, and found his home clan rather easily. However, he was out on a mapmaking expedition, and his partner, a... very unusual... Bogsneak, informed her that she was not welcome. Stung, she left without really talking to any of the dragons there. She decided to try a different approach to love. She took a mate. But there was no true connection between them, and their relationship was loveless. He went to serve the Gladekeeper, taking their children with him. So Sharess has taken to wandering, hoping against hope that things will turn out better... |
Despite the outstanding hospitality provided by the residents of the Sunbeam Lanternhouse, Sharess was despondent, preoccupied with her plight. She spent much of her time in the Meadow, trying to take pleasure in the abundant, beautiful wildflowers - and consequently, avoiding interaction with others. However, she was sometimes joined by Naji. He would offer a few minutes of quiet conversation, maybe a gentle observation about the flowers, and then leave her. She got the impression that he, too, was a lonely soul attempting to take solace in nature.
It was a faint connection between them, perhaps, but it was there... and slowly, she learned that, though he was a member of The Herd, he felt isolated. He had been requested to travel to other clans due to his heritage, but those contracts had fallen through again and again.
She wasn't sure if it was for his sake or her own that she suggested they try nesting together, but they had three hatchlings. Raising them to adulthood with Naji gave her a sense of purpose, but once their children were able to take care of themselves, the fragile connection between them all began to unravel.
Not sure how to salvage it, Sharess resigned herself to moving on.
