Biography
A fate worse than death. A rancid, stinking, horrifying mass of pulsing meat and disease, spreading destruction and rot with every step. The Plaguebringer is nothing but bones and melting flesh, a physical embodiment of the stench of rotting carcasses and old corpses. Her worshippers are all but mindless infections, pure contagion given sentience, and her scourge wrapped around the fallen, ripping away flesh and tearing marrow into a blighted tornado of destruction. Within time, the contamination had taken on a ghastly shape. It haunted the land in the form of a spectral drake, gnarled with veins, pustules and sharpened bone. This harbinger—the Plaguebringer—tested the worth of every sign of regrowth as she scoured over the surface of the realm, leaving behind a frightening scarred wasteland. Her name threads horror through the mind and those who lay eyes on her destruction may recoil in disgust; beneath her failing flesh lays a broiling brew of spite, pride, and a hunger for filth.
From this spite borne a new kind of horror. As though she had not brought upon the land enough virus and insurgence, living dragons themselves have begun to wither and destroy themselves from the inside out. Those who survive their personal plagues will be left with permanent scars and proof of their near-peril.
As the disease takes over their body each dragon’s skin and scales harden into a stone-like exterior, their muscles solidifying until they scrape and screech when they move. Soft bellies and weak spots are coated and protected until the dragon itself is barely recognisable. This is the only distinctive feature of a Plagueridden dragon. You may be sick, but you are safe until you turn to stone.
Variant 2 dragons continue to survive under the buckling weight of their disease, however, as it develops and deteriorates their mind these dragons become susceptible to control and command. In their sickly vulnerable states they are often picked up by wayward clans, who take advantage of their vulnerability and train these dragons unto being warriors - held back by no morals or will, they make the perfect hunters. The plagues cause them to develop a hard, armour-like coating over their skin, further solidifying the idea of an immortal fighter, unkillable and fierce. Many disregard these creatures as dragons at all once they have reached the point of no return; becoming another beast entirely. It is impossible to bring a dragon back to health once they have become a PlagueStone.
