Vadik is a vampire who is unable to permanently die, but loses their memories every time they die temporarily anyway (and thus they aren't aware of the whole thing and just keep living life after life as an adult amnesiac). Their personality doesn't change between lives. They're rather gentle and sweet for a vampire, and were it not for their need to feed, they'd hope to never hurt anyone. Even so, they try to feed in small portions, consensually and compensating their victim (so essentially a blood donation anyway) or by buying animal blood off butchers (even though they hate the taste). They met Silas in this life in a shadier part of town, as yet another dinner opportunity (because Silas is a smug, reckless idiot who was all over the adventure of getting his blood sucked For Some Reason, probably the novelty of meeting a vampire, idk). They ran into each other again sometime later, Silas allowed Vadik to feed off him again, and from then it became pretty apparent that they wouldn't remain strangers anymore. Silas and Vadik essentially became regulars of each other. Silas allowed Vadik to feed more than they normally dared off one-time victims, which in turn allowed Vadik to be able to go without feeding for longer, about a month at a time. In return, Silas was always compensated well and got the certainly very interesting Fun Fact of knowing a vampire. Despite Vadik's nervousness over making any friends at all, let alone ones whose blood they feed on (they're terrified of accidentally building a power imbalance there), they eventually became friends. |

But the fifth or sixth time that Vadik fed from Silas, they made a mistake and ended up accidentally turning Silas into a vampire. Vadik was terrified (Silas' first half an hour or so as a fledgling vampire was taken up by trying to bring Vadik down from a panic attack, so that was fun) and to this day feels guilty over slipping up like that. Silas, on the other hand, simply finds this Cool as Heck, and has settled into the lifestyle of a vampire surprisingly easily. However, now there's two vampires and no returning weirdo friend to feed from. With Vadik's desire to keep being nice to folks, and Silas' lack of tact, getting dinner from now on should prove, well...interesting. [TBC when i can write again] |
