Ese is the grandfather of the clan. The oldest living descendant of their progenitor Alethos.

Ese used to be the most formidable shaman, and is proud of Tao's progress and eventual surpassing as he grew older. Now he spends most of his time entertaining the young, enjoying pension of sorts as a bard. Weaving long shadow banners out of stories of their clan and sharing it with the brood.
He's a dignified old man, but wont mind getting invested and animated in his tales for the children. Finding more joy out of their laughter than dated notions of proper behaviour.
"I'm too old to give a fig about manners!" He'll proudly present, a brood giggling around his feet, if any adult tries to tell him he shouldn't teach the kids to play in mud. "The Mother would not have us live in a place like this and expect us not to play in mud!"

Tao sometimes seeks his counsel though she rarely expects to understand his ways of speaking. Old age has given him a sense of humor like the earth. It's odd, twisted around itself like gnarled roots. Dry as sand. Tao often suspects Ese just likes to see her struggle with his jokes.

Ese likes nothing better than to coil up with a fire, the many spirit familiars cuddled up around him giving support and warmth to his old scales.
