An extravagant display of affection quickly took a grim turn as Volta's partner in research and in life was brutally maimed by one of his creations, an automaton reminiscent of himself, meant to offer comfort and assistance at times when he would leave their shared residence.

During the time of his grieving, he reflected on the incident and came to realize the potential of creating powerful war machines with his own talent. Sorrow turned into ambition; ambition led to a state of madness.

Volta takes great pride in his works, notably the modifications that a certain mirror dragon was subjected to after being separated from his pack and lured into the House of Myth.
