Perl

Perl was one of the first to join forces with the clan, seeing the tiny powerhouse of Castex for exactly what she was. Someone just as cruel as himself. He flattered her, advised her, and happily endured the abuse she heaped upon him.

Since the start he's asserted himself as an advisor of sorts, but is always quick to leap into the fray when someone needs to be put into their place. His own cruelty keeps most other dragons at bay. And he has a prime mate for his services - the queen's own bodyguard Henfire.

Upon the discovery of a wounded, wildly mutated dragon, Perl saw the savage beast that lunged and snarled at him as something possibly useful. After killing the poor beast, he took samples of its blood to the clan, and applied it to the newborn hatchlings he had sired. Much to his delight, two of his daughters changed, becoming terrifying uncontrolled monsters.

While it seemed the lack of intellect of these beasts meant they would be impossible to train, they were so hardy and so ferocious that they made very welcome guards for the clan territory.

When it became obvious that blood samples were not providing enough information as to why he could not solve the mystery of the lowered intellect, Perl opted to cull one of his daughter for further study. Taking the beta female, he spent a good deal of time looking for the answers he needed. He added his daughter's strange wolfish hide to his birdmask, in honor of her sacrifice.
