Instead, while his flesh may have grown cold, his fighting spirit burns brighter than ever as he tackles his vile cravings with a righteous fury... and mixed results. Orphaned in his youth, Silus had to mature far too early; being the sole caregiver for his then hatchling sister Lillia. Having spent so long as her guardian has left him with a brotherly bond that transcends even his vampirism. His dedication to providing for her and protecting her has grown Silus with an unfortunate lack of tact when interacting with dragons. Once he was old enough and confident that leaving Lillia alone for a little while wasn't going to result in some terrible tragedy, Silus sought work as a swordsman for hire. Despite the ill repute of such a profession and his need to take care of more than just himself, he sought out employment from dragons that seemed honourable, and for years he brought home what food and necessities he could earn to share with Lillia. It was on one such job that Silus found himself at the mercy of a vampiric dragon, a mercy that was not given to him. He fled then, fearful that his newfound corruption would compromise his role as his sister's guardian. His aimless flight eventually drew him back to the Cairnstone Rest, the one place in Sornieth where one could be certain to find the undead. Perhaps it was some dark instinct that drew him there, but he soon fell in with the Crimson Order. While was not alone in his affliction, until the day that Lillia managed to track him down he had felt completely isolated. Silus resents his affliction more than any other of the Order, as his sister is still living and the only thing keeping him from descending into an instinct-driven madness. For her sake, he fights; and for her sake he appreciates the strengths the curse has afforded him. However, he still lives in dread of the day when he will outlive Lillia and have to make his way alone with increasingly twisted thoughts plaguing his darkening mind. |
