Biography
Nidra is one of the more widely known and friendly magical anomalies within the bounds of Nightmire. Naturally a creature of a cloudlike form laced with stars and moons, they can sometimes take on the appearance of a blue and yellow coatl while dreamwalking, where their power is the strongest. Only seen during the nighttime hours they’re very rarely spotted outside of glimpses and quick flashes. The creature seemed to become curious of the growing town of serpents and beasts and appeared one quiet evening to investigate the residences and quiet paths through the trees. That night some residents spoke of a golden and blue cloud-like figure in dreams only half remembered with a serene sense of calm. It’s found they often visit the homes of dragons who have nightmares or troubled minds to use their magic in aid, helping the chosen dragon to drift to sleep, fighting off negative dreams and replacing them with treasured memories. Dragons who remember Nidra more clearly are often ones with chronic nightmares or prolonged bouts of insomnia, whom he haunts for nights at a time in an effort to help. Because of this, It’s become a practice in some households within town to leave shed Sweetpuff feathers or pieces of sacridite on windowsills in an attempt to bring Nidra to a home to visit. Although this isn’t foolproof, it seems to be working with increasing frequency as the dream-being has begun to recognize it as those he’s visited before trying to call him back once more. Truly, Nidra though flighty and shy in the waking world, is a cheerful almost childlike entity. Most reports of visits from the being corroborate similar stories- a coatl-like figure asking the dragon if they’d spend time playing old schoolyard games with them. Though its common between dragons who recount visits from Nidra to say he talked to them like an old friend- even remembering advice the being gave to them in their sleep- no dragon has ever been able to remember quite what their voice sounds like. Some dragons speak of their cadence being distinctly feminine, others masculine, sometimes with distinct accents or even different languages entirely. One thing is widely agreed upon though, no matter the voice or tongue you hear them speak in dreams, a sure sign of their largely unseen presence in the waking world is the quiet humming of lullabies drifting through the woods. space Fun Facts [>]Nidra seems to know when a dragon truly needs their help rather than simply trying to summon them, as they have avoided all attempts of the researchers within the Winged Werecat to bring them forward to study [>]They can however occasionally be drawn out in the waking world by those who are quiet and gentle enough in going about it. They seem to be drawn most to things like stuffed toys, nests of blankets, iridescent fabrics, and occasionally the smell of scented candles or incenses (lavender, jasmine and other floral scents seem to be favorites) |
