Biography

ABOUT
He/it

Nickname: Iggy

This Contractor rarely leaves Tetrahedron, as he dislikes travel and anyway, is busy maintaining the volcano so it is perfectly arranged upon Independent and the Contractors' return. It can manipulate lava, and keep globules of it hot and glowing, hovering in the air, in great numbers and for an indefinite length of time. It comes easily to him, taking less awareness than breathing. The real trouble comes from figuring out where to put it.

PATTERNS, PATTERNS, PATTERNS
Iggy never lived well with denmates. He was far too particular on, not cleanliness per se, but every object needed to have its perfect place. No one, no one was allowed to move items around without Igneous' say-so, and that doesn't tend to work well with others.

Beyond that, the REAL problem is—in Iggy's mind—is that it just can't get the layout right. Maybe this one individual spot is good, for this one object, but if he steps back and looks at the room in whole—wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong WRONG! He tears it apart to start over again.

And again. And again.

(No one likes living with him. No one likes renting dens to him.)

And again.

It has to get it right.

THE MAKER'S CLAY
Growing up, Igneous was drawn to the arts. It tried most every technique and medium, but nothing quite clicked. He only ever became half decent at a skill before getting frustrated and throwing it out. Sculpture came the closest, molding a shape from a block of stone or clay or ice, but it wasn't quite there. It wasn't until it saw a water elemental mage perform at a festival that, watching how the water flowed both sleekly and powerfully, that Igneous ached with the need to do that.

He enlisted in fire magic classes immediately, but had no patience for the flicker and spark of sudden, capricious flame. It needed something with more substance, more force. He was close to quitting when the class came to a unit on lava-specific spells, and EVERYTHING snapped into place.

Its need for organization.

Its passion for creation.

The FIRE that burned and screamed to be let out, to be molded, directed, shining, seen and felt by admirers—

Igneous dipped its claws into a pool of molten stone, felt it sear away scale and skin, and seized it. And it accepted it back. VIOLENTLY

O R B
Learning to wield and manipulate lava wasn't an instinctive, spontaneously expert craft. As Igneous grabbed at it, it grabbed back, throwing itself at and into Igneous. It burned down its throat and through its belly, splashing all throughout the classroom forge. Students scattered, alarms pealed, leaving Igneous behind. More than burning, it exulted. Lava streamed around and throughout it, interweaving and interchanging until two became one and the same. As the forge was evacuated, the surrounding area cleared, only Igneous and its lava remained.

After the wrestle, Igneous used the lava to pull the detritus of its body back into the loose form of a dragon. Lava pooled in his belly as he walked out, looking at a glowing world made anew through eyes glossed with liquid flame. Globes of lava floated about it, moving in slow orbits, and Igneous tilted his head, considering. Loose, out in the open, there was little for the glow and shape of his globules to contrast against. Only within limits could its expression be satisfactory.

He needed a structure. A den. Someplace to play, to refine, to master his lava. And construct that perfect design of light and shadow, heat and lack, that has eluded him for so long, always taunting, on the edges of his vision, overlaying his mind and drive. It will find it. Just push a globe this way, another that way . . .

TETRAHEDRON AWAKENS
With the volcano cracking open, magma and Chimes alike emerging, Iggy's lava manipulation has proved quite useful in directing paths of molten rock away from dragons' nests.
