Biography
THE SIXTH HOUSE Enigmatic and drenched in darkness, the tribe of the Sixth House was long considered a mystery to the rest of The Abandoned. Led by an enigmatic, eloquent, and unnerving Imperial by the name of Dagoth, this close-knit pack seems to revolve around the use and protection of a mysterious artifact they call only “The Heart.” Their powers are purely plague-like, revolving around diseases that warp the mind and twist the body, though there’s something nearly Eldritch about the magic they wield. Once misunderstood and considered a potential threat, their heroism and selflessness has earned them an exalted spot among the coalition and the respect and awe of their peers. |

TELASERO
""We take them and arrange them, but still they will not be quiet."" She remembers a festival, grand and spectacular, being held in the heart of the Ashfall Wastes. She also remembers that she wasn’t necessarily invited by the dragons hosting the festivities, but rather by ambassadors from the Southern Icefield that urged her to come and experience a culture other than her own. An opportunity too good to resist, she’s fairly sure she didn’t tell anyone where she was going and merely vanished across the sea with the dragons who invited her. And it was every bit as wondrous as she thought it would be. It was exciting and lively, she danced and she drank and she sang. She wasn’t the only dragon, she doesn’t think. There were a few other Imperials with her that the ambassadors had invited. They seemed like they were having fun, but now she’s not so sure. Somewhere between the games and the ceremonies, things began to muddle together. Telasero isn’t sure how she ended up being auctioned away to the highest bidder, but that’s most certainly what happened. The ones who bought her--a Plague clan who seemed utterly baffled by the fact they were offered a chance to buy a dragon--ultimately seemed to mean well, although their good intentions left her in quite a bind. In chains and restraints, they brought her to the Scarred Wasteland, before shrugging their shoulders and turning her loose without explanation. She supposes they wanted her to fly home but, being as sheltered as she had been, Telasero wasn’t sure which way home was. South, of course, but did she have the energy to fly across the ocean? And if she made it back to the tundra of her home, the icefields were massive. How would she find her way? Despondent, Telasero made her way however she could think to do so, usually by doing menial labor for traveling Plague clans who needed a bit of work done. |
THE SIXTH HOUSE AND THE ABANDONED
Dagoth was beautiful, unlike most of what she’d seen in the Wandering Contagion. He was massive and regal and heavily plumed, obviously a mutant of some design though she couldn’t imagine what mutation would twist a dragon to be more gorgeous. On his heels, covered with eyes, was the dragon who introduced herself as Dagoth’s wife. And behind her, an even more massive Imperial with blazing red eyes who also introduced herself as Dagoth’s wife. They seemed taken with her immediately, an odd little Ice dragon toddling around aimlessly in the Scarred Wasteland, but their amusement and jests didn’t come off as mean-spirited. Their good intentions were clear when Dagoth’s face fell upon hearing how she had been making her way, how she’d been bought and sold and abandoned and couldn’t think of a way to get home. His wives sighed sadly and shook their heads, lamenting how much of a shame it was for such a good, hard-working dragon to be left to die in the boneyards. “You will have a home with us,” is all Dagoth said. His wives agreed. And that was that. As she had before, Telasero earned her keep by way of service. Polishing Dagoth’s scales and gembond, cleaning and sharpening his larger wife’s weapons. Her name was Falasmaryon, she learned, and she was the least of his spouses, a fact that suited her just fine since Kogoruhn--the one with many eyes--was “the Voice of the Heart.” When Telasero admitted she had no idea what that meant, Falasmaryon laughed and told her the story of their clan, The Sixth House. About the Heart of the Arcanist. About how old Dagoth was. Why they were all so heavily mutated. Why Kogoruhn sang and spoke so cryptically. All of it was rooted in mystery and magic that Telasero had once imagined only existed in fairy tales. She became entranced by these fantastical stories, especially after she began to realize every word of it was true. And, in time, she too began to change. |
Before long, she was Dagoth’s third wife and Kogoruhn, enamored with her, took her as her handmaiden.
THE FLAUROS INCIDENT
Moving from the Scarred Wasteland into Dragonhome wasn’t surprising after Telasero got used to the ways of The Sixth House. They moved constantly, everywhere, looking for hints of what could lead them toward their ultimate goal: The Heart of the Arcanist. It was a treasure said to be imbued with power from the reactor that birthed the Arcanist and, as Dagoth believed, something dangerous that needed to be contained. While she had met them in the plaguelands, they’d migrated from the Sunbeam Ruins to the Ashfall Wastes to the Starfall Isles and everywhere in between. Dragonhome, Telasero knew, just seemed like the most promising place to look after exhausting so many other options. However, the decision to join The Abandoned was a bit of a shock, though given Dagoth’s previous life as a general/politician, it shouldn’t have been. While odd to be under the scrutiny of new neighbors that actually required regular interaction, the general consensus was that an alliance with the nearby clans would mean less friction and interference as they conducted their search. Catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, as they say. The biggest jolt came when the Song began to tell Kogoruhn twisting, terrifying things about an encroaching danger, one so bizarre that it was difficult for her discern exactly what it was. Telasero and the others waited on her with bated breath, struggling to piece together what it meant. They got their answer when Flauros began to pick apart The Abandoned one dragon at a time. Initially, nobody knew it was Flauros aside from those in Goetia who were struggling to get somebody to take them seriously. Even then, they had no explanation for why she went mad. Because of the twisted nature and isolationist tendencies of The Sixth House, suspicion began to spread that Dagoth was somehow responsible, a fact he never addressed publicly though he bitterly disputed it in private. Falasmaryon and Kogoruhn, more suited for danger, proved more useful in the counter-assault on Flauros, an underground bid to drive off the monster lurking in the shadows. |
Her break came when an Emperor was raised by Flauros’ minions, through trickery and deceit. Dagoth rallied his wives against it in hopes of defeating it with the aid of the Heart, only to lose Falasmaryon in the fray. Due to the nature of Imperials, the Emperor attempted to absorb Falasmaryon into itself, prompting Dagoth to intervene and be mortally wounded. Kogoruhn, desperate, stole the Heart from Dagoth’s failing body and turned it over to Snap, the then-commander of The Abandoned’s standing army, in hopes she would do better.
And Telasero, who only knew a faint hint of healing magic, opted to help.
The only healer on the field when the battle between The Abandoned and Flauros’ minions came to a climax, Telasero exhausted herself to keep Snap, Kogoruhn, and the rest of the warriors going. Many consider her intervention to be the difference between victory and defeat, draining her magic reserves to keep Snap on her feet and safe from harm.
While the aftermath ended mostly in Telasero’s favor--she earned the respect and friendship of quite a few healers, discovered a sense of self worth, and even helped save Dagoth’s life in the end--she still has nightmares from time to time about the bloodshed, the violence, and the loss of Falasmaryon. Of losing The Sixth House’s steward to obtain the Heart of the Arcanist. Of what the Heart could do if Dagoth succumbs to the temptation of power.
Kogoruhn says this will pass in time. Telasero hopes she’s right.
PERSONALITY
Unlike Dagoth’s other wives, both living and dead, Telasero is not a powerful personality. She is meek and quiet and very nervous. Loud noises make her jump, smaller dragons make her an anxious wreck, and she tends to use other members of The Sixth House as a living shield against having to face conflict or interact with others. While this turn has endeared her to many outside of her clan, it has also given rise to wild rumors about her being a victim of abuse or being held against her will. She wishes she had the guts to clarify, but she’s too afraid it will turn into an argument if she tries. If anything, Telasero is quite happy with her clan, her husband, and her station. Kogoruhn treats her kindly, there’s never been a hint of rivalry between them, and Dagoth has a tendency to pamper her in return for her hard work. Of course, there are those who’d balk at the idea of her being nothing but a housewife, but it’s a good deal in her mind. She worries and wants for nothing, and all she has to do is clean. Perhaps it isn’t everyone’s idea of the perfect life (it isn’t Kogoruhn’s and it certainly wasn’t Falasmaryon’s), but she’s content. In fact, her favorite thing to do is one of her chores: tending to Kogoruhn’s mane. The two use it to bond, laughing and joking and sharing tea. Kogoruhn sings to her and Telasero delights in styling her hair. It’s a good way to spend an afternoon with a dragon she considers her closest friend, even if some take it as further proof that she’s a whipped housewife. |
