Queen Sakimiya is officially of the Magi clan, but the Kuroyume bloodline is one of the distant scions of the Aegis clan. Every several generations they marry back into the main bloodline, as to preserve the integrity of the Aegis heir.

While her marriage with the king was arranged, it was neither a loveless relationship, nor a perfectly stable one. Sirius was an ambitious king, aiming to fix the root cause of the rising unrest. Sakimiya was full of ideals, and wanted nothing less to bring an end to social injustice. It sounded like the perfect pair, but she would learn that Sirius was stubborn and only acted as he saw best, and though she was queen in name, those who married into the royal family held no power at all. Time after time, her demands fell to empty promises or deaf ears.

She was an amicable person, and often busied herself with public relations. Though time and time again, she was reminded clearly of how much was simply out of her control, and she was only a pretty smile valued only for her heritage.

And neither would she spend much time with her daughters, being constantly told that their schedules were just as busy as hers. Busy... with what? There was nothing of substance that she ever did. The only times she could see them were at mealtimes and bedtime, and occasionally during their studies. Never was she aware of the burns on Emerald's arms from mishaps while training with magic at a far too young age, nor the cuts and bruises Alina suffered from being trained to fight as soon as she could walk. One would become the heir of a kingdom, and the other would become her most loyal shadow.

She would tragically lose her life in the Massacre of Faranwall City, along with the rest of the Luxia family. With their deaths marked the end of the Aegis clan's documented bloodline, though few other distant scions remained scattered, none with any more claim to the throne than Sakimiya's siblings.

Her ideals were once carried on in part by both daughters. One is now ashes in the wind, and the other lost to the night.

Ashiya is Sakimiya's fraternal twin, second born of the two sisters. As her sister married into the royal family, it was her duty to carry on the Kuroyume bloodline.

Ashiya was somewhat of a wild child in her youth, and often did not get along well with others unlike her sister. She didn't care much of what others thought of her, held grudges, and had a temper hotter than fire. She did cool down as an adult, but no one can stop her from speaking her mind once she's started.
