Lore:
From the day that Golem was first born--to a pair of skydancers who were notorious thieves--he sought to meet the Flamecaller. His parents were quick to abandon him and flee, fearing that the Flamecaller had replaced their only surviving child's eyes with eternal flames as punishment for their crimes.

As he aged, he began to struggle with his ability to manipulate flames. Without a proper mentor, Golem would frequently grow frustrated and lash out at whatever was nearest, whether it was pieces of nature or dragon campsites. His increasingly destructive outbursts did not draw the attention of the Flamecaller, unfortunately, but instead, the acting demigods of Sornieth.

A demigoddess named Freyja--sent on behalf of the Clouddancer--took a particular issue with his behavior. She approached him one evening, demanding that he must learn to control his flames, for he was disrupting the balance of the land. He tried to explain that it just wasn't possible--had he not been trying his entire life to repress this part of himself?--but her dismissive attitude and clear distaste brought on his rage. He attempted to attack her, and his aggressive shift was enough of a reason for Freyja to decide that imprisonment was the only feasible option. She faced him and narrowly succeeded in locking the fire elemental away, inside the remains of a sealed-off volcano far beneath the ocean.

For a thousand years, he remained there. He did not understand why the universe had punished him in this way.

He was eventually freed from his prison, when an earthquake reopened the vent and exposed the volcano to the ocean. He surfaced near Kam'Bahari island and landed on an uninhabited shore there, mostly extinguished from his journey up from the ocean floor. He knew he was fortunate to have been granted this second chance, and resolved to find a proper mentor.
