» BIOGRAPHYSource - XYZ Shadows. Darkness. That was all the nameless Skydancer knew. From the moment his eyes opened, all he could see was the dark. He knew not what color was, what light was. For he never was blessed with the privilege to see such beauty. His world was cold, dark and unloving. And that was all it ever was. His steps took him to mysterious places, filled with many scents, many sounds. He knew not where he walked nor where he stayed. His entire life was an impossible mystery. He yearned to have the gift of sight, to see the wonders of color, the shimmers of light. Yet, in the end, he knew his yearning was for nothing. For he was cursed to never see the world, to wander it for eternity but to never know where his steps would take him. Many believed him to be a phantom, and perhaps he was. For all he knew, he very well could be dead. So he adopted the belief as his name, calling himself what others believed him to be: Phantom. For now, it was all he had, the closest he would ever get to having a true name. Or at least, that is what he thought. In his eternity of sightless wandering, he happened upon another dragon. Though he could not see this dragon, he could sense powerful, potentially dangerous, Arcane energy emanating from them. “Where may you be traveling to at this time of night?” the dragon questioned with a smooth, alluring voice. Night. Phantom supposed the time made sense. The air was crisp and cool and crickets quietly chirped around him. These were things that he had come to understand as a sign of night. “I am merely wandering. I have no destination in mind for I do not know where my claws take me,” Phantom answered with a soft voice of his own. “Blind?” the strange dragon asked. “Yes, since the moment I opened my eyes.” “I see,” the dragon replied, humming with energy. “Perhaps I can… offer aid?” Confused at the dragon’s statement, Phantom tilted his head. “I fail to understand how you can aid me. I am blind, not ill.” “There is nothing a little magic cannot do,” the dragon stated. With a flash of energy, Phantom flinched at the bright pink light around him. “How is that?” “Bright,” Phantom answered, blinking a few times in an attempt to adjust his eyes to the unfamiliar light. After a few moments, the light faded to a small glow around the opalescent shards on the bipedal dragon’s body. “I do not understand how this is possible… “ he murmured, puzzled by the shapes and colors all around him. |

“Do you not like it? I can take it all away, just…” Suddenly everything went dark once again. “Like that.” “No! I never said that I did not like it. Please, give me sight again!” Phantom begged. Though it was only for a minute or so, the ability to see… It was unlike anything he had smelled, felt or heard. It was overwhelming, but oh so beautiful. “I can, but I ask one thing of you. A trade-off, I suppose…” “Anything, I will do anything you ask.” he insisted, craving to be able to see once again. “I will give you your sight. But in return, you must join up with my group and answer to me as your leader. Should you ever leave, so will your sight,” the dragon said, magic lacing his words. Whether from the magic or from his desperation to see, the Skydancer didn’t even think twice. “I agree to your terms.” With that, there was another flash of energy and once again, Phantom was met with a bright pink glow that soon dulled back down. “I am called Enigma,” the dragon finally introduced himself. “And what might you call yourself?” “Others often call me Phantom, but I do not have a true name,” he replied, his voice soft. “Do you like that name?” Enigma asked, his countless eyes staring directly at the Skydancer. “I don’t know. I only use it because many believe me to be a ghost, and… it may be possible,” he admitted. “Well, you appear to be very much alive to me,” the Wildclaw stated. “No matter, you’re a mystery for certain.” “Mystery?” the Skydancer repeated. “I quite like the sound of that.” “Then I hereby grant you the name Mystery,” Enigma stated with a sharp, twisted grin. “I welcome you to The Forsaken.” With the Wildclaw’s words, multiple dragons now made themselves visible. Phantom, no, Mystery was baffled as to how he did not detect their presence. However, the increasing humming of Enigma’s magic seemed to answer his confusion. Most likely, the Wildclaw’s magic had masked the presence of the other dragons. Why, he wasn’t sure, but he was now realizing that maybe he made a mistake in taking Enigma’s offer. But it was too late to change his mind. (note to self: rewrite this. I don't really like this anymore) |
