Sonata has always found it difficult to communicate using ordinary languages, the words never coming out right or the right meaning never coming across. Rather, he uses music to convey his feelings. Preferring to use a more choral style than one with lyrics, he feels mostly at home with his throat wide and his ears ringing.

Sonata came from a harsh home, where no one knew how to properly help him through his difficulties, dismissing him as an idiot who didn’t understand the world around him. When he couldn’t cope with the pity and the patronizing, he ran away, travelling a short time before finding the Army. He discovered that the way they moved in battle communicated more than words ever could, and knew he had found a home.

Like his partner, Sonata isn't an active member of the army, but when said partner enjoys climbing on your shoulders or plummeting from heights during a show, you kinda need the strength and reflexes to catch her.

Sonata's difficulty expressing himself may indicate a lack of intelligence, but no such thing is true. Sonata is incredibly observant, and good at making deductions. If he works at it, he can definetly have normal conversations, he just chooses not to.
