Biography
Eternity
♫
Eternity had been complaining since Vipha and him had taken off from the camp to the top of the peak at the center of the island. It was night time, cold, and the first night of celebrations for the Night of the Nocturne. This was his first time at such a celebration and the fact that the Carnival was mainly Nocturnes promised him a good time.
"Stop being a baby," Vipha hissed as they pulled themselves up the final outcropping to see the view from the top. It was overlooking the marine layer that normally covered the stars from those below but it made a beautiful sea of clouds.
"I don't see how this dragon we are meeting is supposed to help with the apparent mimic problem."
"Oh my gods Eternity, I cannot stress how much this could change life on the island if we let it get out of hand"
"Again I don't think that's our prob-"
"I wish it was that easy to be so uncaring about this problem," This new voice was one that Eternity had never heard before. The coatl was shocked by the size of the guardian who had apparently just snuck up on them. "I hope you're ready for this," The smile that grew on the large maw would have made a normal dragon break out in a sweat but Eternity could feel an excitement growing. The large dark dragon turned from the two walking over to a large oak were there were three small chests sitting on a flat rock. Vipha followed without hesitating an prompted Eternity to follow. "How much do you know about mimics"
"Not much I suppose," the coatl replied.
"Would you know one if you saw one."
"I think the point is that you aren't supposed to."
Hurdron smiled at the sass of the young dragon. "If you don't believe that they are a problem," He slowly began opening up the identical chests, "Two of these are mimics and I want you to chose the one that isn't. Since they're no big deal, make your decision by sticking a paw in."
"That's insane," Vipha interjected loudly. "He's gonna get it wrong."
"Don't be such a baby. This will be easy," Eternity was almost trying to convince himself at this point. "If I get this right I want to go back and drinks will be on you."
"Deal" Hurdron gave a toothy grin. He watched at the hesitant Coatl looked at each chest carefully but right as he was reaching for the one, Hurdron let out a sigh and stopped him. He picked up a stick and used it to show what was almost Eternity's hand. The chest came down on it with a snap and the sudden appearance of teeth made even Vipha jump. "I'll make you a deal. If I train you and you can spot one by the time the festival ends, I'll get you that drink," Hurdron chuckled.
"Look. Love is a nightmare.
