Linnea never intended to found a clan.

Though she loved the extensive libraries of her birth clan, reading about discoveries other people made was not true learning. True learning required experimentation. And experimentation required freedom, from ethics review boards and cleaning duty and all the requirements of clan life.

She set out alone into the wilds of the Sunbeam Ruins, but she did not stay alone for long. When a friendly tundra of mysterious origin offered to let her use him of a test subject, she could hardly refuse - even after those tests turned him into a coatl and caused some difficulties with communication. When she found an abandoned nocturne egg, of course she had to keep it and take notes on the hatchling's development.

Before she knew it, Linnea was at the head of the very sort of thing she had once run from. She's not quite sure how to feel about her accidental clan - she appreciates the willing test subjects and free food, but the rest is more complicated. She tends to remain rather aloof from the rest of the clan, and delegates most of the day-to-day handling of issues to Python, her oldest friend, first test subject, and (platonic) partner. This new clan allows her to conduct her research, and that's all she ever truly wanted.
