Novus is pessimistic but he has every right to be. However bleak he perceives the future to be, however, he dresses in flamboyant display. He dances and distracts the thieves' targets while the rest of his team robs them blind. Novus dances like there is no tomorrow and like there is no yesterday. Born in the Colonnades of Antiquity, he made a living borrowing from merchants and nomads alike. But his towering presence wasn't very welcome, and the depression of being in such an unwelcoming place weighed on him. With no parents, siblings, or anyone he could call a friend, he left the bustling marketplace. His real home called to him, though he had never been there; the mesas of the Shifting Expanse. He felt happier in the desert sands already. While exploring the Carrion Canyon, he came upon a wonderfully colorful vulture; Nekhbet, who likens herself to a goddess of her canyon. The two got along fast, and she quite enjoys watching him dance for spectators. She lets him distract travelers through the canyon so she and her gaggle of vultures can steal their valuables. On the cliff's edge above the thundering sea, he found a fellow Ridgeback sunning herself on the sand: Astrape, even more massive than he, the first of his kind he has gotten to meet. Her striking eyes and half-android body intimidated him. Eyeing her electronic parts and scraps she has hoarded, he initially looked to rob her. But upon dancing in order to distract her long enough for Nekhbet to begin snatching and pocketing scraps, Astrape's sister, Bronte, arrived for the evening and struck the fragile vulture with her massive paws, holding her down amusingly easy. Novus froze, suddenly realizing he was very unprepared for this. These dragons are nothing like the idiot tourists i'm used to. Upon seeing Novus freeze up while her sister calmly sat on the squawking, oversized bird, Astrape bellowed with laughter. Oh, you two are quite entertaining. And i think we could put you to good use. Would you like to work with me and my sister?
