Dragons who die of natural causes are kept in a separate cave of the lair, where they are wrapped in a shroud dedicated to the Stormcatcher, with additional decorations to the dragon's own elemental deity or any other memories and honors that their friends wish to bestow. Sulfusa keeps vigil over the body during this period.
Two nights after the death, the shrouded body is brought out of the lair and placed atop a catafalque built of stone blocks, and cremated. The ceremony must be finished and all dragons must leave before the sun rises.
Serein, Sulfusa's mate and a mage/priest specializing in meteokinesis, calls for a storm over the catafalque.
In the morning, by the grace of the Stormcatcher, the remains have been removed.
(However, death by natural causes is very rare. Most dragons prefer to lend their strength to their deity long before succumbing to old age.)
