the day after the moon was speared on the tip of the peak, the sun fussed over its injury. in the end, it could not be healed, so the sun in sympathy caught a meteorite shooting past and sent it hurtling to Sornieth to keep the stranded moonlet company.

the second egg was found days after the first, nestled still-smoking in the hole in the mountain it had crawled out of. nobody had any doubts about this one. it was tucked immediately into the nearest nest with space, and left to hatch.

and so it did.
whatever mood halfmoon is in, she's in the opposite. apart, they're two extremes. together, they reach an odd equilibrium.

like the sun and the moon, they're probably meant to be.
