TEST YOUR METTLE ADMIST VILE WINDS ROTSHADE BARRACKS Hester tends to draw attention to themselves, whether they like it or not. Now a mainstay in the barracks of the Brood, Hester's history of vicious combat - told through hearsay and passed on stories, rather than from their own mouth - generally leaves them looked at with awe...often followed by confusion, as they hum songs from the windswept plateau to themselves as they evaluate training plans and territory patrols. It feels as though the air curls around them as they sing, wrapping them in a gentle breeze, and underlines the obvious: they are not a plagueling, but a Merry. Responses to them are as varied as the winds themselves: a shrug of acknowledgement with no time to think deeper, a burning curiosity, unsettled distrust as they carefully manoeuvre themselves around the Rot that seeps through the land. Despite their birth flight and persistent alligence to the Windsinger, Hester's reputation as a long-time resident proceeds them as much as the stories of their strength do. As such, regardless of how people may think about them, Hester's existence has largely been accepted amidst the Brood. They do, after all, bring back treasures to the clan in exchange for being granted residence, young plaguelings blossoming under their tutelage until they make the decision to remain with the Brood or take their leave. |
