Biography

Verguin The Meteor's Trail —– *this dragon leaves a trail of stardust behind him* —– Verguin's egg was discovered in the waters off the Driftwood Drag, surrounded by meteor fragments, intact but radiating cosmic contamination. The egg was placed in a secure chamber under the watchful eyes of the Trinity. Some questioned whether it would ever hatch, but Araclor was confident… and in time the egg did indeed crack open, unleashing a powerful cosmic vortex in the depths of the lair. After getting that under control, the Trinity were ready to toss the remnants of the egg back into the ocean. But the remnants of the shell disintegrated to reveal a tiny, sickly Nocturne. Verguin was mostly raised by the Trinity, because every so often he 'falls ill'. These illnesses result in a brief desyncing from reality, manifesting a cosmic rift around him. The rifts are nearly always dangerous to nearby dragons. Since Verguin is out of sync with reality at the time, he isn't harmed by the rifts, but the desyncing isn't healthy for him either. For the first and only time, Oracle and Vizjerai were convinced to work together to try to solve the problem. Both concluded the same thing: the cosmic energy had fully permeated Verguin's elemental magic, and attempting to remove it would certainly cost him his life. (Vizjerai wasn't against this, but the Trinity shut that down with a quickness.) Before the clan could figure out a more sustainable containment solution, a solution willingly presented itself: the draconic anomaly now known to the clan as Warpstalker emerged from one of the rifts. He took charge of Verguin's situation as soon as the clan agreed to give him sanctuary. His own cosmic nature allows him to detect and neutralize the rifts before they even finish forming, after which he dutifully protects his ward until the desyncing phase ends. It's only since Warpstalker's arrival that Verguin has been able to lead a relatively normal life. 'Relatively' is the key word, given that he lives pretty much tethered to an eldritch entity that thinks it's a Wildclaw, but still. He's taken a particular interest in art, and can often be found painting on one of the Wintergale's terraces. His paintings tend to depict utterly alien landscapes which he can't explain… though Warpstalker will occasionally say that they remind him of home. —– |
