Biography

Enodian, the Handsome Healer
Generation I of the Crystal Skies - emigrated

Enodian was born in the Starwood Healing Copse to Healer parents. The focus of the Copse was to provide aid to all who wandered by the Starwood Strand no matter their country where they swore loyalty. Their duty was to heal--not to discuss politics.

With the Starfall Isles located so close to the Scarred Wasteland, diseases happened often and the entire Copse had many sleepless weeks accommodating the sick dragons. The Healers grew in confidence after every defeated sickness and their talents were known to all travelers in Sornieth. It was this confidence, however, that wiped out all the adults of the Copse when the Wyrmwound Plague hit, including Enodian's loving parents.

The now-orphaned hatchlings did not leave the Copse despite the advice from the local towns, who even offered room in their hatcheries for them. Instead, they hoisted their parents' legacy on their backs with pride and continued the practice as best they could with what they've been taught. The Starwood Healing Copse carried on albeit losing prestige as one did not feel too comfortable around hatchlings using powerful healing magic, but it did not take long for the Copse to regain its renown.
For a while, Enodian was happy being a Healer, taking over his parents' passion. At least for a time. He met many kind strangers...and many beautiful drakaina* though he never fell hard enough in love with one to perform a Bonding Ceremony with. At the end of the day, after the sick and wounded regained their strength (and oftentimes had a date or two with the charming Enodian), they would go right back to their journey and he couldn't help but feel envious.

The Healer felt that if he left the Copse, he would bring his deceased parents dishonor and worst of all, disappointment. This was their life's dream--they were a central part of the Copse. This fear controlled him for a long time until a young, Pistachio-colored Skydancer was placed under his care. Her wings were a gorgeous shimmering ivory with a wingspan larger than Enodians, and her body patterned with poison-style markings and flaxen runes depicting the merchant trade. She had gone in Starwood Strand all on her own at nightfall, got stuck, and broken one of her wings. He learned her name was Larimarite.

As he eased her back to health, Enodian couldn't help but falling in love with her. She seemed so sheltered yet eager to find her own way in the world and instead of feeling envious as usual, he admired her. She had told him her parents were merchants (as he guessed from her runes), she the only child, and that she was afraid they wouldn't accept her leaving, but to her surprise they did wholeheartedly. She pondered outloud that maybe this was what they wanted for her all along.

The very idea shook Enodian to his core. He never so much as guessed what his parents wanted for him. They taught them the ways of the Healer, yes, but did it mean they wanted for him to take over? Or did they teach him Healing Magic because that's all they knew? He had long since made peace with their deaths, but it pained him to not have been given the chance to ask them anything at all.

When Larimarite could fly again, she quickly prepared to leave--a scene the Healer was way too familiar with, but this time his heart ached with sadness. Will he ever cross paths with her again? Will he ever hear her laugh again? Will he ever see the sparkles shine in her eyes again? Perhaps he can also pack his things... no, he couldn't leave the Copse...

The sun had risen and the young Skydancer was about to take flight when Enodian rushed to see her one last time.

"Where will you go now?" He shakenly questioned. All he wanted was to grab her claw and take flight with her into the sun, into the unknown, right along with her. But his parents, the Copse, the other healers...

"Wherever the wind guides me." Larimarite replied. It was now or never, the decision of a lifetime.

"Let me go with you... if you'll have me."

As the story goes, the two traveled for a while making many happy memories, got Bondsmarried at the Marketplace, settled down at Lapis Lake in the new continent, The Crystal Skies. Healers were needed in this fledgling land and Enodian was prepared to start his own destiny, with Larimarite at his side.

*drakaina means female dragons
