The Blood in the Water

It was a nice day of late autumm, a winter day almost, little of snow was already covering the groung, and warm light was shining onto it making wonderful wiew, alongside with the last colorful leaves, the frost on the branches and mild cold wind. A herd of Snowfall elks were calmly searching under the snow duvet for food. Birds were chirming to the air. However they all noticed a pair of dragons coming by the way, they stood in their mood because they made no threat to them. One of the dragons was talking although the other kept silence. It was Impkith and Ian. Ian was asked to make some tradings with a centaur herd to obtain new cloths and leather that is ready for use, Impkith was making him escort. Ian was in very nice mood, relaxed and talked to Impkith about his other travels and nice moments that happened in days like these. Impkith doesn't mind it even that he prefers silence, listening to him was kind of nice, maybe he was also lightened by the weather.

The place was not really far, but as they both enjoyed the walk, and had nothing to be hurry about, they chose a longer path. They got into a snow fight too for a few moments, quite rare to see Impkith playing, but whatever. They were just a few kilometres to the herd, just need to cross a small stream. Ian stood still for a minute and watched the crystal clear water, the sprakling beauty made him thirsty and he pointed out to Impkith that he will take a small gulp. Impkith watched him coming downwards from the nature made bridge of tree trunk, he took a long breathe and then strated to drink quickly, immediately bursting it out. Impkith laughed at him and asked if he felt something like elk's pee, but he lost his smile as fast when Ian replied, "I feel blood.".

They left their path and go agaist the water flow to investigate. After a few minutes the blood was also visible in the water and soon then they found the reason. A body of dragoness with serious and several injuries was laying on the elevated gravel sediment, her body was deadly cold, with no reactions, they got it out, with no breath and no pulse, Impkith listened to her heart, it was still shivering, so he tried with Ian to cast the strongest healing spell he could. But something wasn't right and the situation only became worse, there was no way she will make it, she already lost so much of the red fluid, and the heart stopped. They both got very sad, and the whole day was ruined, they couldn't leave her there just like that, and took her with them to the herd. They made the deals and the herd also gave them some bandages to cover the dragoness. They were asking if they knew her or if something happened around, sadly the herd couldn't help them, but told them that by the scratches she was probably taken by the water from some distance. So they thought it would be best to bring her back to the clan and send messages to other clans.

They got back and lightly stopped by their tribe RoamingSoul to tell them the bad news too. It spread quite fast and when they came to the MainLand, they already knew. The messages were sent, and leaders ordered to take her body to Doctor to ascertain more clues and also to repair the body to some dignified state, it would be awful if her relatives would see her like this. Doctor however refusing to be assigned as pathologist, accepted the work, mainly because there is literally no other wounder, healer, or ritualist who would or have so much experiences as he has.

The body was carried to the laboratory, so the procedure could begin. Doctor took small sample and started DNA tests immediately to get rid of this because they take long. While it was processing he examined the body - young adult female, nutritional status good, not very muscular, several old scars, he was interrupted by the tone of results on hic machine. Well none of them get some readable results, that was unusual, but he knew he didn't check the machines for a while and became upset. He wanted to be finished and in hurry, when he was sewing one of her injuries he cut himself by accident, well mainly because his bad habit og not wearing gloves, he turned around to clean it.

As he was cleaning the cut he took some ice from the refrigerator and noticed his storage of organs, quite empty, and he has just a fresh healthy body over table, that really won't need them. He took another tools and headed back to the body, nobody will notice a few new holes, he will sew them afterall. He was there, turned the body on the right position, and his scalpel delved into flesh. Darkness, silence, emptiness and....PAIN! The dragoness opened her eyes, felt an awful pain and saw a dragon who was causing it, she swiftly raised her head and made a mighty bite to his arm holding the knife. Doctor was shocked and screamed, he let the scalpel fall, the dragoness saw it and released his arm, then quickly rolled up together on the opposite corner of the table and started looking quickly around. She couldn't see much the lamp's light was so strong, but that little she saw was making her frightened, and was aweking her instincts to fight!

Engi heard the scream and noise and came to see what happened, he didn't expected much, Doc was screaming and making noise quite often, but he came always anyway to be sure. He would never expect to see what showed up in front of him, Doctor was standing next to the table, gasping for air while the "dead" dragoness was holding his arms and choking him with her long and muscular tail. She saw him and eased her grip, Doc fell back, and she jumped from the table and covered behind it. Doctor was coughing and Engi jumped to him and helped him back on. Doctor had confused look as him for a moment but then it twisted to an awful grin. "ahhahaha-Hahaha-WHAhaha!", he started that evil maniacal laugh, "Fascinating!" he then pronounced, got up and started searching on his working table, it only deepen the Engi's confuse, and he just burst out, "What the SHADE is happening here Doc?! What have you done?!". The dragoness was watching them but stood in place.

"Ohoho! Engi I did absolutely nothing you believe? My pacient is just dead for twelve hours, and started choking me when I wanted to steal her organs. Looks like this job is not as boring as I expected, HAhaha! Hold this my friend." he handed him some blue solution, he then picked up some others, and gradually take some quantity of them to syringe, "Wha-..." Engi wanted to ask, but Doctor put it onto some strange device and shot the dragoness to the uncovered piece of tail. The dragoness felt the sting, she yelped and then stormed out of her cover to attack and try to go through the doors that she saw behind them. Although she was determined something else took over her body, her muscles loosed and she felt falling asleep, and then fell in front of them. "nghah!" Doctor grinned, "What now?" Engi asked unsurely, "Now? It's science time, friend, help me with her back to table." Doctor said grabbing her limbs, "...Wait wait, so you are telling me, that you have done nothing and that alll just happen for real?" Engi stood back and looked at him suspiciously, "You know if somebody get know what you have done this time they will probably kick us out of the clan?! Do you even realize?!" he continued to anger, "You know I would be happy to admit this is my work, sadly - no, however I am now incredible inquisitive to find out my friend." he replied with amazed smile. "This thing is absurd, I just feel how I'm becoming insane ya' know?", Engi calmed down a little, "What do you even want to do?", "Oh, Don't worry about that." Doctor smiled.

Engi grabbed another limbs and helped to place the dragoness back to the table, Doctor laced her limbs, tail, and neck so she wouldn't be able to move. He then went back to his working table mixing something else up. Then quickly came back, grabbing some tools by the way, Engi was watching him confusely, Doctor stood upon the dragoness with disinfection that he placed to her chest, and then pulled out saw for bones and grinned. And how he held out Engi jumped in front of him catching his arm, "Please don't tell me, it is what's it look like." he said, "Well, looking inside is the greatest and fastest way." Doc replied confused, "She is alive, you can't just poke in!" Engie reacted and pulled the saw out of his hand, "Argh!" Doctor yelped and Engie noticed the bite, "Why not? She should be dead, everybody thinks she is, and if I kill her while probing otherwise, what's the difference?" Doctor continued, "Doc, you are wounded, take care of it. - Ahm, as I said, she is alive, why wouldn't you try to speak with her first?" Engi replied and handed him a bandage, Doctor took it, "Speaking with her? Humpf! Well, also an option, but as you could see, she rised from death and started choking me right after then.". "The thing I see was that she was scared, we don't know what happened to her nor what she was through." Engi continued and helped with his bandage, "....hhhraagh, fine. She will wake up in twenty minutes I suppose. - Ah! I will make a tea, want some?" Doctor smiled and headed back to working table, "phew!", Engi sighed and looked over the dragoness, "You are welcome lass." he then whispered.

The dragoness was waking up, her head was little dizzy, and her wiew blurry. She tried to stand but her muscles wasn't still listening, She heard a few steps, and a dragon cleared before her. "Calm, calm, I'm not goin' to do anythin' to you, lass." he said and was looking at her, she recognized him from before, she was thinking about strike but his voice was truly calming, "My name is Engi, I'm engineer working in the workshop nextdoor, everything will be good. Just sit down, yeah?", the dragoness slowly sat and refused Engi's help with snarl. She was feeling better with every minute and when she rised her head her wiew cleared whole, and she saw another shadow standing few meters behind the first dragon - Engi. She focused on it, it was him, in a second she bared her teeth and growled. Doctor faced timidly and made another step back. "Oh no no please, keep calm, he is not goin' to do anything either I swear. His name is Doctor, he is healer and wounder, and scientist or whatever. He sewed your injuries, see?", she looked sideways as Engi was poiting on her, and she saw the sutured wounds, and her expression changed, a strong confuse mixed with fear.

"Dragons of our clan found you in the stream... you were dead and they brought you here, as a matter of decency to your possible relatives and asked Doctor here, to care about your body and find some clues about you to tell. A message about finding you was sent to other clans, and we are expecting somebody will come." Engi was talking to her, but it seemed that she listened only for a little while and then looked like full of thoughts, "As Doctor was working, you then woke up from death. We really don't know how is this thing possible, but you can clear this out. ehm....lass? Can you even understand me, lass?" Engi finished his talk. The dragoness looked at him, and slowly nodded, "And can you tell us?" he then asked and Doctor make a few steps forward. The dragoness saw him moving, but didn't growled this time, she shook her head, "Ah, that's okay, do you have a clan?", he asked and she shook her head, "ehm, a family and friends?", he added, but the dragoness shook her head again and in her eyes springed tears, "I- I can't remember...anything.", she sobbed. Doctor poked Engi's shoulder, "Time for option two then?" he whispered, Engi looked badly at him instantly, in this minute the dragoness grabbed small piece of paper that was near and scratched some symbol into it and started staring on it, "What is it? Can you read that Engi?" Doctor noticed the scribble, "Maybe I saw it somewhere already, although I can't remember where, maybe we will find it in my library later." Engi replied, "We need to take care about her first.". Doc was dissatisfied with the whole situation and wanted to say something but he then stood still by surprise looking at her, Engi turned around and looked at her again too, and was shocked, the dragoness tears changed and she was crying blood, and something started to happen. The water, everything liquid started to levitate in the room, Doctor and Engi were overlapped with an weird and uneasy feel...

"Interesting!" Doctor pronouced and fascinated watched the scene, while Engi became quite afraid of what he saw and what he felt, "Lass? Are you okay?" he asked and touched her, she flinched and stopped the cry and the atmosphere turned back to normal. "Oh, sorry I didn't want to eh-, I know this is hard but please stop crying okay? It will make your head hurt.", he said, "Well young lady, in my opinion as health caregiver is that - you are suffering temporary amnesia. It is very dangerous condition for you and I think the best is to stay with us for now, I can run some research of you and your condition while your stay. And Engi will appreciate a little help in his work, as you can see, he doesn't move really well." Doctor started talking and walking around them, *..yeah, that would be great..." Engi was confused by his sudden talk, he knew that he is still obsessed to find out but he changed his mind from *digging into her flesh* at least to *let study her alive*. The dragoness agreed, she was kind of happy that she will be safe till her memory will come back and that they are trying to help her. "Perfect! Hah! Engi will find you some place to sleep, and show you our home, I have some other work to take care of." Doctor finished and smiled at them weirdly, "Oh, Yeah! yeah come with me, okay?" Engi smiled at her nicely to turn her look away from him and showed her way. He showed her all the rooms, and his workshop too, the only room he avoided was Doctor's personal room. The dragoness was most stunned by their own small library and so Engi offered her to make her place there. Engi was also recounting her more about him and Doctor, some basic rules and advises. When everything was set he escorted her back to the library, "I just realized lass, how should we call you? i know, you probably doesn't remeber your name but it would be weird to just call you lass all the time." he then said, the dragoness stared into the void for a minute, she tried to remember, but then something other whispered in her head, "Realtali." it said, and she repeated it whispering, "That's nice! So you can read whatever you would like here, just remember the things we were talkin' about, I have also somethin' to do, keep you rest today and see you later!" he said nicely and left. The dragoness looked over the books, she then picked up some and started reading.

Realtali is really not an ordinary dragoness, the truth is that she is a spirit that was summoned. She is the Spirit of Adaptability, she is able to shapeshifting, and survive everything except one thing that remains secret among her creators. She is "daughter" of Keida and her mate, and so Tali inherited both of her parents curses sadly. She is meant to take life as well to give it through blood that runs in her body. She is much like her father, a spirit with full time physical form but unlike him her curse that she inherited from him is not that strong and also is inhibited by the innocence she has after her mother. She was made from her mother's blood, her father's flesh and water of the river, and thanks to their guardiance she never before had to fulfil her spiritual meaning.

Realtali was born in water element, she is natural oracle, but her predictions are usually evoked by touching objects or dragons. She never liked it much, they were showing her horrible things many times, after touching dragon bones and artefacts that were laying around the shores of the river. She started to fear touching such things, and avoid them if possible.

Because Keida is close chained to her own creator, Realtali became the next piece in it. Unfortunately making an easy way for the witch to claims what she want back. That's also the reason she was found. Few days before Realtali was playing with undines, when there appeared someone in the shadows, the witch with awful plan of revenge for her mother's betrayal to take her child's life instead of hers. Her plan was almost successful but Realtali managed to escape when she jumped into the storming waves of the river, still they parents was not fast enough, and found the witch alone making it look like her plan was succeed, and she then escaped by spell like coward. The waters were carrying her long time till the flow became calm.

She was scared and confused for the few first days when she stood with dragons she just met. But she take to both Engi and Doctor after some time. Well with Engi it was quite easy, he is great dragon to be around, calm and friendly, and he didn't mind to explain anything she was asking about, and speaking with him was like talking with a long time friend. And she didn't expected him to be such smartie too. With Doctor however it was different cup of tea. She was afraid of him. Even that she apologised for what she had done before and he accepted it, but she still felt endangered in his presence for a long time. But as he was doing research with her, she started to observe the other him, not that scary and weird, but that one caring and helping. She admires the love he has for birds, mainly for Archimedes. She watched him a few times secretly and discovered somebody who just live through his work, everything he does he does for a reason and goal, and is sad and angry when he can not reach it. That makes her understand him and the fear went away slowly. He also showed her that she still has many things in her head, he discovered that she knew many things about herbs, flowers and animals and used it to train her in apothecary. She really likes this work, it makes her feel needed and happy, and he liked to avoid something he doesn't want to do. Need to say that Doctor also behaved little different at the beginning, he was truly obsessed with the finding out about her but then he started to like her somehow to be around. He was pleased to has somebody that is listening so curiously to all his ideas or is amazed by his experiments and don't judge him, and his irritation from not making any progress went away slowly, also thanks to that he find teasing her funny and relaxing.

She is still searching for a book that Engie talked about that he saw the symbol in. She hopes that maybe it will give her answers, or it will kick her memories back.

Dragons in the clan also like her, her kind, friendly and curious nature who likes to spend time with animals around, when she just appeared in the clan, everybody have some feel that she looked familiar but Engi introduced her like his penfriend from nomad clan, and they go with that. But still somebody got suspicious - Impkith. He met her few times in the clan library where she goes searching for interesting books, and it was not only her look but also her scent that catched his attention, and he is sure that he met her once before, just remember where.....
