Less overtly vicious than other lair members and surprisingly not condescending, he is often the one to parley between border clans.

The surrounding waters were often cloudy with blood before he arrived.

It is his magic alone allows the "guests" to the lair the air and protection they need.

This allows him near immunity to any attempt at harm from those brought from the surface, as to do anything so far below would not just lead to them drowning, but guarantee them a crushing death.
