There is lava in her blood, the elements saw fit to bless her with such, but what the Flamecaller did not deign fit to imbue was immunity to the fire and flame itself. The fire and flame which engulf and consume with no mercy to the deity which claimed them; no mercy to a dragon born unto a flame and the embodiment of fire. Of course as she aged, the shows lessened and the wash of feathering and fur came back though not without the cracks to show for it; not without the slicked burns that distorted her form painting her body in a strange and unpleasant light to any that got close. All it took was one simple miscalculation and a fall from almighty pride to see what was once a proud and beautiful young Skydancer turn unto a a recluse donned in garb and head dipped low with teeth gritted and eyes wild. Truly, her kin would say it could have been worse but what punishment was worse than a shattered ego and hubris calling to mock her? So she sneered at those close to her; to those offering comfort and kindness. No, she would not see them pity her nor tolerate those sorrowful looks her way. She knew the words they whispered behind her back and how they ridiculed... How they would laugh and sneer... She knew how they would say that she deserved such a fate for the callous life that she had lived and she so grew to resent them. Resent boiled and bubbled like the fire that consumed her; consuming her. Her claws were sharp and whilst her form bore this new scarring, she knew her maw would teach these fools the err of their way. So it came that with blood staining her teeth, the Skydancer would leave her meager clan; would forge a new path as the flame had forged her anew. The world would burn at her feet for the injustice it had struck her even if her fur was to be polluted with sin and eyes blinded by rage. |
