Biography

Winter is coming.

They say that the Southern Icefields have no warmth, but Fimbulvetr knows this isn't true. Once, he had all the warmth in the world, nestled in among the towering crags and endless snowfalls, and it all came from Bliizzard. She was his mate, a towering Imperial with enough love for the whole world and then some, and he adored her with everything he had. They spent almost all of their time together, defying every notion that the Icefields had to be a cruel, cold wasteland. Happily in love, they had warm hearts and compassion for days.

What they did not have, though, was immortality, and eventually, Bliizzard fell ill. It was not a sickness she recognized, and Fimbulvetr could not name it either. Frantically, they sought a cure, begging any healer in the Icefields to come to their aid. All the same, Bliizzard perished in the dead of winter, exhausted from her long fight, unable to survive any longer. It seemed that her death sucked all the light from the world, and once she was buried, Fimbulvetr wandered in a haze, unable to find direction and unwilling to try. He was a mere ghost in the Icefields, a shell of himself, and eventually, he vanished completely. Locals no longer spotted him wandering the mountain slopes, and he could not be seen mourning among the ice floes.

This was because he left the Southern Icefield, intending to abandon it for good. It was too cold to bear now, and he couldn't face the land that took his mate. So he traveled the Sornieth mainland aimlessly, with little passion for anything. He was simply existing.

Frost changed this. He didn't fall in love with her immediately, but it happened fast. One day, they were just misfits; he the widower with his broken heart, she the clan abomination with her dull, pale feathers. They could not find clans willing to take them in for one reason or another, usually superstition, and so they were stuck together, like it or not. Except they did like it. Fimbulvetr held no preconceived notions about Frost's plumage, and she did not pick and pry at his aching heart. They made a good team, and better yet, they had similar coloration, which made them decide to do the unthinkable: return to the Icefields.

But color alone does not protect one from the Icefields. After spending so long away from his home, Fimbulvetr did not remember as clearly the rules of survival in such harsh land, and he and Frost quickly succumbed to the bitter cold. They suffered extensive damage from frostbite, and only luck saved their lives.

They were found by a clan that makes its home in the fur of the Icewarden, and gradually, they were nursed back to health, draped in all manner of cloth to hide their injuries, and equipped with powerpacks to keep them alive. Fimbulvetr was also granted a Golem Gauntlet, which allows him to communicate with the clan from a distance. Indebted to their new home, Fimbulvetr and Frost have become an unofficial search and rescue team, venturing out into the unforgiving ice to rescue those set to meet a similar frozen fate as they almost did, ever passionate in their work.

Introduction to IceDom [ Profit/Art/Rewards! ]

[header img]

Welcome to the Introduction to Icedom!

What exactly is Dom, you ask? Dominance is a competition between flights that takes place every week.
Rewards for being the Dominant Flight include:
  • Marketplace Discounts of 15%
  • Lair Expansion Discounts of 5%
  • +3 Daily Gathering Turns
With rewards for 2nd and 3rd place as well!

Why would I want to contribute?
Believe it or not, casual Dominance pushes are profitable, and are usually known as Profit Pushes! A lot of users actually do Dominance-related activities to make money normally, and it’s simply best to coordinate everyone’s efforts to a specific week so it’s more likely that we get Dominance the next week.

monument_ice.png

It’s really it. It’s the coordination of small Dominance-related things people do normally in an attempt to make our score extra high so we may win a spot.

Sign up to the Dom Pinglist here to be notified about future Pushes!

Here in Ice Flight, you may claim your Dominance Efforts for Snowflakes that you can exchange for rewards, such as art and items!

Here’s a preview of what we have to offer:

And art, badges and more!

Post 2:
How Does Dom Work?
Dominance works based on a scoring system, where every level exalted acts as something similar to 1 point. This is adjusted based on how large a flight is, however, where the value of points earned by a smaller flight has more weight than points earned by a larger flight.

Dominance means we have to spend a lot of time in training in the Coliseum, right?
This is not necessarily true! There are many other ways to help out in Dom, such as storing hatchlings and aging them to be adults.
Even Breeding Dragons and Selling Fodder helps in the overall effort!

What Exactly is Fodder?
It’s simply a term used for dragons that are sold at a very low price that are meant to be exalted.

What Happens to Dragons that are Exalted?
Here is something that staff has said on the matter:

Question: What does it mean when a dragon is "serving" their elemental deity? Is it like a personal assistant position?
Aequorin, 2016-08-22 13:03:17: Dragons can serve in many ways. Most will relate to the upkeep of the elemental domain, and efforts to try and expand the territory: positions like warriors, mages, healers, scouts, messengers, provisioners, researchers, builders, excavators, craftsdragons, etc.

Here, some of us like to believe that exalted dragons are sent to comb mats out of Icewarden's legfur...

Why Exalt? Why is it Important?
Exalting is actually good, and is a necessary game mechanic. There’s limited amounts of lair space on the site and an enormous amount of new dragons added every day. There’s simply not enough space to accommodate them all! An exalted dragon leaves behind a treasure reward for you based on their level, so this makes exalting not only a necessary mechanic, but also a profitable one!

For more information about Dom, please check out the Flight’s Dom Hub!
You may also sign up to be paired with a mentor here!

Post 3:
Tell me more about Profiting from this!
One of the easiest ways of earning treasure on Flight Rising is to train dragons in the Coliseum, then exalt them for a profit. In addition, you can sell the items you get while training them for a nice bonus!

For reference, it usually takes ~5mins to get a dragon to level 5-6-- assuming fodder costs 7k treasure during that time, that’s a whole 1200-2500 treasure in profit! This translates to an estimated profit of 14,400-30,000 treasure/hr, which is a lot of treasure!

It’s usually recommended that you level them up to level 5-7 at most, as training them past those levels is usually a lot more time consuming-- you can earn more money by stopping at a lower level and exalting the dragon than trying to go up to 8 or levels higher.

If it happens to be a week where you can claim snowflakes, you may also purchase the items from the Bazaar to sell afterwards.

To find out more about Profit Exalting dragons, please check out this guide.

Post 4:
Are there any ways to participate in dom without using the coliseum?
Don’t worry! We’ve got you covered.

Sniping:
Sniping is the act of going to the Marketplace or Auction House to “snipe” cheaper items and then sell them at a profit. In this section, we are going to primarily focus on sniping dragons from the Auction House.

Tips:
  • It is important to note if there are any Conquest Dom Pushes ongoing at the time, as fodder floor price may increase accordingly. You can find this information by looking for the most recent Dom Watch thread in the FR Discussion subforum. You may also subscribe to Dom Watch here.
  • If you put 2 of the same price in the Price Range search, it will allow you to filter dragons based on age, if sorted by price. This would let you find adults more easily.
  • You may search for dragons based on their genes/color/breed. This would allow you to find Daily Exalt Bonus dragons more easily. The Daily Exalt Bonuses can be found on the right sidebar of the FR main page.

Under Construction, Please Check Back Later!

Storing:
Before logging off for the day, consider picking up some Rollover Hatchlings.
Rollover Hatchlings are dragons that will become Adults the very next day, and you can either sell the adults, or levelexalt them for a profit.
It is recommended that you purchase hatchlings at 6000 treasure or below, although the actual number may vary between weeks.

How to find Rollover Hatchlings:
Simply type in the same number in both Price Ranges, then Sort the dragons by Price. This should arrange the dragons by age. You should then hover the cursor over the dragon to check their age. If the Hatchling is 4-5 days old with a breeding cooldown (Hover over the egg) of a multiple of 5, it should become an adult the next day.

**Note: The cost of Rollover Hatchlings may be cheaper or more expensive depending on whether there is a Dominance Push. The 6000 Treasure used in this example is only an example, and it is recommended that you look at different/lower prices as well.

Pictured Above: An example of a Rollover Hatchling.

Breeding:
Flight Rising is a dragon breeding simulator, and we all want more pretty dragons! The easiest way to do this is to breed your own dragons for more dragons, but we all have limited lair space.

You can sell dragons you breed, and some buyers may keep them forever, but since lair space is limited, most dragons will be exalted eventually. Dragons that are bought or sold with the intention of being training and exalted for profit are called fodder.

Fodder can be trained and exalted for money [link to previous post], but if you would rather not train them, head on our to the Auction House/Fodder Hub to list them for sale! Our trainers will likely pick them up if they’re of a reasonable price and levelexalt them for you.

Please note that when selling fodder dragons, it is often appreciated by trainers if you could name the dragons before sending them off or selling them.
