Hallucination

Once upon a midnight flame, flickering in the winter snows
Lighting the shadows of dragons that rested, grim and dreary
Burdened by luggage of lost dreams and woes
Before winds that howled and embers dead fiery

As they rested a shadow shifted,
Shifting with the dreams and lore
Into a haunting form, a mockery twisted
Of greed that mocks and wishes for more

Barely they remembered of the laughter that followed
Of the strange form that danced before
How it echoed, brave and hollow
Of a greed that mocks and wishes for more

A strange form it took to strive,
Of burning flames and endless lives
A crown of bones, resting upon her form
And a twisting mane, not made but born

Wings of feathers, made from radiance
She holds judgment's sins, singing in silence
A great punishment of iron, forged from the Warden's guidance
The keeper of the martyrs, the inherent wrongness of balance

Eater of dreams and bringer of sickness
Devourer of wishes, a child of the circus
A monster from chaos, a being of madness
The queen of Hallucinations, watching from her palace

A commander of dreams, and a bringer of sickness
