Nozomu

Nozomu had grown up under the watchful eyes and protective wings of his parents, Nagkeshar and Cernuus, the queen and the king of their small Royal Jelly hive. As their child, he knew that he would either serve as a guard or as a warrior protecting their lair. These were the roles for all Royal Jellies born after the queen and her king, but considering the war that waged just outside their lair in the Frigid Floes, Nozomu would have chosen one of these paths anyway. Nothing was more important than the safety of their home.

Since his birth, the need for increased honey production had their hives working overtime. The honey was needed to treat the wounded, but it put a strain on their precious bees. Nozomu watched them and offered them the nectar from whatever blooming plants ended up on his dinner plate. It was a small sacrifice, one that was needed to make sure they were all cared for.

When he came of age, Nozumo was selected as one of the guards to the beehives they kept at the heart of their lair. It was a great honor, one which he did not take lightly. He helped to keep the beehives warm despite the ever-present chill and made sure that a wide variety of blooming plants were always provided to the bees. He knew that in order to produce the best honey, they needed variety in their diet, just as he did. Nozomu was pleased when the bees would swarm a new plant, eager to taste its nectar and take it back to their respective hives.

He also saw to it that the gardens were filled with plants that bloomed at lower temperatures. The cold strained the bees and Nozomu also saw to it that the hives were kept warm. When it came time to harvest the sweet honey, he made sure the bees were disturbed as little as possible in the process and always rewarded them with a rare blooming plant as a treat.

Eventually, he knew the war would probably spill over into their home. Many he had grown up with were gone, lost in battle. Nozomu hoped it would never come to that, but he was prepared if it did. If somedragon or something wanted to get at his precious bees, they would have to come through him first.
