Biography
✾ TAROCCO ✾
himself | poet | shade holder | xvii. the star | young adult
"Stumble. Then rise on some awkward morning."

fallen down;
To call him an outcast would undermine how deeply removed he is from his peers. Tarocco, born of the Arcane element with no particular affinity or interest for the skills of magic. Tarocco, a Skydancer without an ounce of empathic senses — leaving him blunt and clueless to the world of feelings around him. Tarocco, whose mother is a plagueborn herbalist, and does not know his father. An oddity of a dragon, even inside the Wandering City.
Tarocco has been spared the judgement of Sornieth and its residents, having only known the Wandering City for as far as he can peer back into his memories. There is no memory of the Shade following he grew up in, nor of why his mother escaped with him. And perhaps it is better this way; not knowing that his father had intended to offer him up as a host to the Shade shard. Not knowing it was half completed before his mother broke the ceremony and flew off with him. Still, though incomplete, there is a small, fragile union between Tarocco and the Shade shard. His nights are sleepless, and yet, he is unaffected by the perpetual insomnia. There is a small voice in his mind, making demands and comments as it pleases - but easily ignored and laughed at. A tumor grows in his right eye, causing partial blindness. Something he's learned to live with. Dissociation and misunderstandings are a constant, but those around him have adjusted. |

— but it's still you.
Despite being unable to intergrate into typical dragon society as himself, the world feels fine and beautiful inside the Wandering City. Tarocco is a poet by night, a courier by day — delivering packages, orders, and messages all around the city with his service capricat, as well as preforming odd jobs and tasks.
Although Tarocco believes he's nothing like his father, Eimrah, both he and the spiral both share a fervent desire to do what is right and to throw themselves in the midst of conflict and problems in an attempt to resolve. However, unlike Eimrah, Tarocco has yet to learn that some conflicts are out of his power to resolve, and he cannot fix every resident in the Wandering City, or do it alone. He is also in denial of his own disabilities — refusing to accept his limitations, and pushing himself well beyond his capabilities, harming his mental and physical health in the process. He fully believes he's never enough. He's not doing enough. Limits and needs are wishfully ignored. If he's done a hundred percent, Tarocco will feel he needs to give ten percent more. Friendly wouldn't be the first word that Tarocco would use to describe himself; but it's a word that comes up time and time again when other dragons describe him. If there's an odd task that needs doing, comfort or company needed, or a pair of hands, Tarocco is always there without questions. Most dragons describe him as kind, sweet, and one to always go the extra mile — which more than make up for the odd, out of pocket statements he'll make, or how blunt he can be. |

But as his mother kept secrets, so does Tarocco. And just like his mother; Tarocco keeps the fact that he keeps secrets a secret. He keeps the prophetic dreams the Shade feeds him a secret. He keeps the fact that he's able to commune with the heart of the city a secret. He keeps his and Midora's research expeditions and findings concerning the city a secret. Although he loves his city and he loves the residents, something... vague tells him all in due time. And Tarocco agrees.
Despite positing himself as a peacemaker and problem-solver, it's very difficult for Tarocco to imagine anyone intentionally — much less wanting to — harming anyone else. It's a near-fatal flaw of his; for if he is kind, everyone else must be. And if someone does harm another, there has to be a reason behind it. According to Tarocco, the world may be complicated, but people are usually not. And he earnestly believes that everyone must want to be good, and therefore, everyone is capable and deserving of redemption and forgiveness.
And although his childhood is forgotten, the trauma still lingers. The Shade still lingers, attempting to steer Tarocco back to the followers in hope of completing the joining. Dissociation, depression, and a distinct sense of difference follows Tarocco wherever he goes, despite loving the world and attempting a sense of optimism.

begin again.
✶ - Just as Tarocco does not know of his childhood or biological father, he does not know who his harp once belonged to or why it had been gifted to him. Although not as invested in music as he is in writing, Tarocco is moderately skilled in playing the small harp. The Shade shard expresses distaste at this, which makes singing and playing the harp an effective coping skill when overwhelmed by the mutterings of the Shade shard. ✶ - Tarocco's hoard mostly consists of various works of literature and crystals. ✶ - While Tarocco loves his family, he's particularly close with his mother, Pris. She's the first person he'll come to with any kind of problem, achievement, or thought, for the most part. And he'll always listen to her advice. If Pris doesn't approve, and Tarocco does, he'll fight his heart to agree with her. Eimrah, his father, isn't held as in high regard compared to Pris. Tarocco can't help but see the spiral as more of a friend rather than a person of authority. He cares for his sister, Kallat, but there's a distance between them. They did not grow up together, Tarocco being well into his teenage years when she was born, as well has both being on different ends of the neurodivergent spectrum, causing them to clash in needs and wants from time to time. |
