And you did as it was said. You stole a strain of sound muted through a closed window. Plucked a syllable from their spindly golden ballroom. You soaked in their mannerisms like a haunted mirror, always a second too late.

If you never get respected, at least you’ll be remembered. All was good. Until the first paper crane arrived.

A pink neatly fondled paper crane awaits on the nightstand: one sole splotch of color in your gloomy room darkened by the never-ending spring drizzle. One thing you know for a fact. It wasn’t there last night after you locked your chamber's doors.

✾ Babakaj Theodosius is the former minister of internal affairs of Monterosa. Seemingly, the Council of Twelve recently lost his trust and hides a myriad of secrets from him...

✾ With his old talent of collecting strays, Babakaj formed his own group to help him piece together the events that have shaken the city both figuratively and literally.

✾ Babakaj hails from a family belonging to struggling, minor royalty. He reached his high rank due to his skills and his marriage with the count’s only daughter, a fact that the rest of the council likes to remind him of every other day.

✾ He has two daughters, Olga and Lyudmila.

✾ Babakaj has several hobbies such as crosswords, being angry at the newspaper, mastering the art of sarcasm, and alcohol (well, drinking it, not making it).

✾ Suffers from chronic pain: his right leg has been troubling him a lot recently. This is a problem because he despises being dependent on other people.

✾ His favorite meal is beef liver with onions.
