Ashheart

Ashheart is exactly like her mothers who raised her, Sage and Smokewing, in the sense that all three of them are warriors sworn to protect the clan. However, that’s more or less where the similarities end. While Sage and Smokewing are calmer and more clear-headed, their daughter is more brash, coarse, and quick to act. Ashheart gets frustrated much faster and is prone to crass outbursts. But this is just the way Ashheart is, and is no fault of her mothers’ parenting.

This, however, doesn’t stop their clanmates from comparing Ashheart to Sage and Smokewing. Ashheart’s eye starts to twitch when other dragons start cooing about “Oh, you look just like your mother!” (ignoring the fact that Ashheart is adopted and does not share genes with either of her mothers), “Just like your mother would say!”, and “Your mother would be so disappointed in you!”. Ashheart loves both her mothers dearly, and they taught her everything she knows on the battlefield, but she also yearns for an identity separate from them.

Ashheart keeps a social circle among many of the clan’s other warriors, and she loves the battlefield thrill that she gets from fighting alongside her friends and allies. Although many of her warrior friends are familiar with Sage and Smokewing and may have even fought alongside them, they have come to know Ashheart as a separate individual and treat her like her own self rather than an extension of her mothers, which Ashheart is immensely grateful for. At the end of a hard day of fighting and gathering loot, Ashheart knows she has a circle of kindred spirits to come home to, to eat, drink, and be merry with.
