Biography
You decide to enter the old building with only a small amount of hesitation still clinging to the rubbery treads of your boots. The ornate handle of the block is cold to the touch as you raise a hand to push...
It shouldn't be as silent as it is, but the doors barely make a creak as you swing them open. Perhaps they've been oiled recently, you wonder absently, taking a short moment to glance at your surroundings.
Nothing has jumped out at you just yet and you risk another step forward. The air inside feels vaguely stuffy, in a way only a cramped, old library would, and it sets you eerily on edge - though you know there really isn't a need to be so tense.
Before you get a chance to inspect the old scrolls by the desk, the rich mahogany sitting innocently in the middle of the sizeable room, you find yourself taking a left to drink in the sight of an odd statue by the entrance.
It seems to be quite old and a bit dusty, obvious signs of age evident in the yellow-ish tint marring its once-chalky surface, and you feel oddly drawn to it. There's an impulse to touch, just at the tips of your fingers, but you hold back long enough to come up short as you notice an odd piece of paper stuck to its flank.
The edges are embellished with bits of golden ink - the kind that shimmers under the light - and you refrain from reaching out to hold it, no matter how gentle. You're still a guest here, after all.
