Trill has always been a black sheep. She and her siblings were the first hatchlings following the Shatterglass clan's migration to the Sunbeam Ruins, the first Shatterglass dragons born to the Lightweaver's element, but she grew up hearing that she had more of the Wind in her than anything else. Three of her siblings went off to serve the Lightweaver as soon as they were grown, two as warriors and protectors and one as the devout servant and worshipper she'd always been, and her brother Tanis who'd remained behind was a dedicated and stoic creature, always trying to mitigate and restrain Trill's more adventurous impulses. After all, what Shatterglass dragon could want for anything more on this plane than the entrancing hum of the shatterglass crystals and the lovely, motherly Matriarch that seemed to commune with them?
Maybe it was because her egg had been furthest from the crystal placed within the nest, or maybe something was just wrong with her, but the lifestyle of the average Shatterglass dragon had never interested her.
Fortunately, Provost Corsicana, who always seems to have a talon in all the goings-on of Shatterglass society, offered Trill an alternative. Merchantry, he suggested, the opportunity to travel all over Sornieth and put her Spiral-like enthusiasm to good use. Whether Corsicana was seeking to make the clan slightly less insular, or was using her as a step in some grand, long-term plan of his, or really only had her best interests at heart, Trill didn't dwell on -- knowing him, it was likely all three and several more.
She took the Provost up on the offer, initially selling and trading jewelry and religious trinkets crafted by Shatterglass dragons with their namesake crystals at trading outposts, but quickly becoming something of an adventurer and entrepreneur. Her most lucrative business relationships have been with ships' captains. Sure, some blanch and wrinkle their noses, calling them "smugglers" and "pirates," but who is Trill to judge?
